As bad as the jets will finish in 07 (4-12 if lucky), I think I am most discouraged by the lack of concern by Mangini. By this time he should be calling out some players for poor performance or outright benching of many underachievers, including their entire toilet paper defensive line. Anybody could hold the line better than the current group (check out the end of the Eagles game if you don't believe me). Yeah, yeah Chad stinks, but Mangini obviously won't admit that. Parcells would not put up with the current jets product without making several changes. I don't even think the offseason will make a big difference as the jets continue to foolishly believe that certain players are gold--Same time next year the jets as they will still be playing and paying overpaid underachievers like Chad, Drob, and Bryan (invisible) Thomas, and unable to figure out why they stink.
Mangini looked visibly upset in the press conference I watched on Monday. I was kind of worried he was about to have a nervous breakdown he looked so effected by the season/last game. By the end of the interview he seemed to have gotten back on track with his normal (albeit dry) personality. I don't know if this was an interview right after the game or not, but it seemed that way. I think they have made changes throughout the season to improve areas they were struggling in. Mangini pointed this out in the conference I watched and I agree with him. One week the defense is playing better, next week we have better pass blocking, the next week we have better run blocking. At this point it's just a matter of putting all those things together on the same day. Even if the season is lost, I expect this team to get better each week.
Calling out people in the media serves no purpose. I'm sure he's called people out behind closed doors. Parcells waited with Rick Mirer forever before changing to Lucas, so don't tell me Parcells is a saint either.
Retards never sweat anything. They’re the most stress free, happy people in the world. Manballboy likes apples.
Sorry..my post was not really directed at you or ever intended to "tell you" anything. My apologies if you were offended.
Parcells didn't hesitate to go to Romo last year though. Just like Mangini shouldn't hesitate to go to Clemens with the season already lost. It's beyond logic as to why Noodle is still getting snaps!
this may sound unreal, but if i was the playcaller on offense........i wouldnt hide chads inability to throw, while hanging my own ass. i'd tell him to chuck it , and he would throw until his arm fell off. i wouldnt allow him to check down, i wouldnt allow those packages to enter the game. i would go five wide, shotgun, and expose chads ass before i would take the heat our coaching staff receives. one might ask his own self " maybe the staff actually believes(even after everything thats unfolded this season) chad is our quarterback." this is just one of the many reasons, and scenarios, that prove our staff is too young and unproven, to lead us out of where we are at.
five wide receivers and shotgun is the problem. The job of the coaching staff is to put the players in the best possible position to be successful and the job of the player is to execute to their ability. If you line this team up with a TB, FB, TE, and 2 WR's and run the ball between the tackles and use playaction, it would be more successful. That is what TJ is good at, that is why we brought in Barnes, that is what Chad is good at along with Coles and Cotch. Baker would also excel. The CS has gotten too cute and needs to get back to fundamentals and the wins will start coming.
red75bronco....... i agree with you 100%, but chad is allowed to do things (at the line) which is between the staff and himself, and the blame cannot be pinpointed. it ( the blame) keeps shifting around so much that even baker points to coaching. our defense doesnt allow us to play ball control, and neither does our offensive line. therefore our original offense (tb, fb, 2te's and 2 wr's) cant work. last seasons smoke and mirrors tactics seem to be aimed at the fans and not opposing teams.
Parcells did hesitate some. It was like week 7 before Romo was brought on board. But Bledsoe had more wins then Chad.
At the very least, something has to change so there is a threat of a running game and passing game on all downs except 3rd and long. I just don't think the two facets of the offense, running and passing game, complement each other. It is like two totally different schemes.
