If we have a high pick we need to trade down, getting the flashy pick will only continue our soft team trends, we need a dline, an oline, a pass rusher worth a damn and then we may be heading somewhere, but until those areas are addressed, you are just wasting time.

They also have a great offensive line to utilize Peterson to his best ability

i think it'd be ridiculously difficult to pass on McFadden, despite the more pressing needs along the lines and the Front 7; although, i have to say the OL has played much better the past two games and will probably keep improving -- probably only one blue-chip RT away from being a very good OL.

i would really consider drafting McFadden, depending on a successful Free Agency. you have to figure Thomas Jones has about 3 SOLID years left before his game starts to noticably decline. while it seems luxury (with the state of this team), McFadden can be eased into the League so by the time his second and third year come around, he's ready to beast out because he's already adjusted. Leon would become a Kevin Faulk type guy (only better) and Thomas Jones wouldn't be around much loner, so McFadden would take over eventually. it's definitely an interesting scenario.

if anything, i think we'd trade out of the spot should McFadden land in our laps. he's too rare of a talent that you simply pass on him. you either take him, or you get a lot of compensation for passing on him.

Although I don't think we need RB, we couldn't pass on picking McFadden. He is just too good.

We would find ways to work him into the offense, trust me.

There is no chance we take a QB in the top 5 next season. If Mangini is taking this damn long to make the switch to Clemens, there's no way we give up on Clemens even if he struggles in his 10 starts (or fewer) this year. He'll be given a full season after going through TC as the starter after Schotty spends the offseason developing a gameplan for him as the starter.

McFadden is a slight possibility, but consider me firmly in the "trade down and take Okam" camp.

Of course we would take McFadden. You can't pick an elite running back in the undrafted FA's, or from another sport or off another teas waivers. And when you get them in Free Agency they are usually a year or three away for breaking down. Please with the Oline talk, it will be fine and we don't have to waste ore 1st or 2nd round picks on it.

And looking at the bottom ten teams right now, it looks like there is a good chance he could fall to the Jets. The bottom all have recently drafted running backs. I think the HC should be looking McFadden, DT and OLB.

McFadden is the Guy. It all starts at the line and he is supposed to be Special.

This was a mistake. I meant Dorsey. The 3-4 will never work without a Good DT!

If we don't take McFadden, Dorsey should get a serious look.

    He is a beast.

I love Dorsey, but we need to switch to the 4-3 before we take him. He can't make the same kind of plays in the 3-4. I'd be just fine with a 4-3 and Dorsey/Robertson in the middle. Someone please make this happen.

Who was the last game breaker the Jets have had that we were able to utilize (in other words not Santana Moss)???

    My guess, is Joe Namath.

Just like IJR said.......Dorsey isn't a fit for our 3-4. Okam is also not an option for the Jets. There is no DT worth a Top 5 or 6 pick in the 2008 draft. In fact, there is no NT(3-4) that will probably crack the first Rd. There just aren't any Wilford or Ngata types available in that range.

IMO, trading down and picking up extra pick(s) (2nd Rd) may be the best option and grabbing a Derrick Harvey in the 10 to 15 range would help our pass rush big time. Harvey is a force on the outside and will improve our OLB spot.

The only 2 players worth considering in the Top 5 as of October 15th....McFadden and Phillips.

rb will not be a need folks, neither will QB be....it will (better be) a trench draft with lineman coming out the ass on draft day on both sides of the ball.

throw in a speedy outside LB as well

not necessarily early though. i'll give you a hypothetical (real) scenario:

let's say Bender turns out to be a solid starter and the FO knows this heading into the Offseason. let's say we sign a couple guys, someone like Terrell Suggs to add a pass-rushing OLB. and let's say Clemens turns out to be the guy we all hope/think he will. that's already 3 improvements to the overall team without having to use a draft pick on anyone. if we can sign another OL-man for depth, again, another pick saved.

in this scenario, we can afford to take McFadden. i'll be the first to admit that we need serious help on D and we need one-two more solid OL-men. but under the right circumstance, McFadden can be taken. it's not like it's completely out of the question.

Also the home of the team that cost me my 4 team parlay by missing a chip shot FG with a minute left. Bastards.
