I was as livid as anyone on Sunday. I hate the Giants worse than the Red Sox's, Patriots and Mets. It is a team I loathe and losing to them is like taking hot-pokers to the eye. I have never been a Chad basher. I'm not blinded by his ability or inability. I know what I get when he is under center. Having said that, after the Buffalo loss and yesterday's embarrassment, I was calling for his head: "he's to predictable", "he throws floaters", "noodle arm", "Get Clemmens!" etc. etc. etc... The color has returned to my face and as I reflect upon the future QB of the Jets I asked myself: "Is this really ALL Pennington's fault?" With a clear mind, I think I can comfortable say: It is not all Chad's fault. Some yes, all no. The main culprit is THE OFFENSIVE & DEFENSIVE LINES. Does Chad make these mistakes if the Jets have any sort of running game? (by the way, the line actually did an above average job in pass protection). Does he have to dink and dunk if the Defense can stop the powerful duo of Jacobs/Ward from running free or get a sack/pressure consistently? It's easy to blame Chad because of the 2 major interceptions, but it isn't entirely his fault. You can't expect him to win every game by his arm & intellects. If he had a running game, this game is a W. just my 2cents. sorry for another Chad thread.
Did you not see the Giants Jumping all his routes all day? Did you not see the Giants with 8 in the box all day? Did you see Chad get sacked only once all day and make a horrible Giants Secondary look like the Bears? HE CAN NOT THROW! THAT IS WHY WE DON'T HAVE A RUNNING GAME! WHAT IS SO HARD TO UNDERSTAND!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
of course its not ALL Chads fault......thats not the point. the point is chad continues to become less and less able to be a qb in this league...the season is shot....so why not see what K.C has to offer. thats it...really quite simple
no it is his fault. thanks for playing. cant have a run game with 8 in the box. he doesnt have arm and intellect anymore. his positivies no longer exist. hes not cerebral. nothing cerebral about 5 to 10 yard passes. uh oh hes bombing it. 20 yards! woo hoo. thomas jones said it himself. anyone whos played knows what hes saying. chris baker came close to saying it. hes looking like the same guy who couldnt throw more TD's than INT's last year except his only game worth mentioning was the loss to NE.
It's not all his fault. The defense couldn't tackle a dummy yesterday. THAT was the real reason we lost. But when the defense puts us in that situation and we still ahve a chance to win,we need a qb that can throw and one who is not gonna rush his decisions. Going down the field with 2 mins,i no longer have any faith in success with Chad leading. He imo is a great QB,if you surround him right so we can take advantage of his strengths. With No o line, there is no run game,no play fake, and no time for the accuracy to come into to play. The way they built this team this year on the lines(which sucks and i am dissapointed in tangini)we need a quick release qb.
What do you guys think he needs to be completely detrimental to the team before he gets replaced? He can't be replaced until he sucks so bad that the team would be better off with WhiteShoeWillie at QB? It's getting close to that point IMO but we're not there yet. Look at what he's been doing. He's not helping this team! Why should the defense sucking be an excuse for Chad to suck too? Sorry that doesn't work in my book.
If you put an opinion poll up im sure the majority of the board would rather have WhiteShoeWillie at Qb. You got my vote!
I know people tape the games and if I had it, I would look. How many running plays had 8 men in the box. I specifically watched for it yesterday and only counted 1. The running play calling absolutely sucks. Put in a FB an run between the damn tackles.
What does it say about your Qb when you have to run trick plays in the first Qtr on Third and 4. Not much.
some plays there werent 8 in the box but it was a disguised blitz. people would come up soon as the ball was snapped. but they sat on chads routes all day. gameplanning for pennington has to be the easiest job of an NFL coordinator now.
It's hard for some people to accept because of the successes Chad has had, but he's done. I sometimes have a hard time accepting it as well. He's a good guy who has shown some skill at a position that has been a problem for this franchise for years and years. Everytime we think we have a saviour at that postion, some shitty thing happens to ruin it. Like 2 torn rotator cuffs. Chad is not the only problem with this years edition of the Jets, but he is one of the problems. His throws yesterday weren't the result of anything other then the complete lack of arm strength. His physical limitations are hurting this offense, whether or not some want to admit it. It is time for a change. However, when that change occurs, expect no miracles in the win column. The defense, specifically lack of a pass rush and run stopping, is what is really holding this team back. Until that is fixed, I don't care who is QB'ing this team.
Chad certainly had a hand in the loss yesterday. I mean, he did throw 3 INTs. One of the other issues that goes along with this is the rest of the team besides Chad. Some may still feel that Chad deserves to be the QB due to his track record (his failures this season have been documented). But how is that fair to the other 50-some guys on the roster who are busting their butt and playing well, but only to see the most important position on the field coming up short. These guys are in practice every day...they see the Kellen vs. Chad thing more than anyone. They can't be very happy right now. This can't be good for the organization.
Benching Chad is not addressing the deeper issues. Besides, the only way Chad gets benched is if he gets hurt or if we go 1-9. The real problem IMO is coaching. This is the same team that played crappy D last year until the bye when they got more aggressive. What happened during the bye? Why are we starting out the same way defensively like we did in 06? The offensive gameplan has been horrible about 3 weeks in a row now, maybe longer. You HAVE to establish the run, especially with Chad. If they throw 8 in the box, so be it - you still have to impose your will. I have to give credit to Herm here. He was stubborn but he knew he had a HOF RB and ran him hard, so hard he had to retire early. He didnt put Chad in situations where he had to win by himself. Schotty is the exact opposite. He's Mr. Gadget, Mr. Video-Game offense. Jones is a good back, but he won't use him. Even when he runs him, he goes against his strengths. This team has not been able to run stretch plays for the last 10 years, so why try now with Jones? I find this most concerning since our OC came from a place that has one of the greatest RBs of all time in LT. Mangini himself is a decent in-game coach but I wonder if his preparation during the week is all wrong. The one year he was given the reigns as a DC of the Patriots he flat out sucked. Did Bellicheck and Crennel cover for him all those years? Maybe all of the coaches (Mangini, Schitty, and Sutton) are in over their heads? The problem is that I dont think Mangini (or Tannenbaum) can see the forest through the trees right now.
We could condense this board to four threads 1) Chad sucks / bench Chad 2) It’s not Chad it’s the lines 3) It’s the defense that sucks 4) The coaching staff sucks / hire XXXX It’s just the same old stupid arguments about the line over and over. You can’t judge the line when you have a high school (JV) quarterback because its suck level will be completely exacerbated. You can’t evaluate a running game when you are forced to run against eight man fronts all day long and you can’t evaluate receivers when they have to run their route, stop, wait for the ball, catch it (if they have the balls to with defenders barreling down on them) and then get killed. Defenses generally will improve with some positive production on offense.
Exactly , it was the same for Vinny in his final years as a Jets ! You got to beleive was the montra ; because we were always in a dog fight and ther ball was always getting picked off. Kind of feels like whats happening now now! we are all entitled to our oppinion's and Mine is the QB Has got to go , the same way we all felt when Chad took over for Vinny!
Like I said in the other posts, stop makig excuses for Chad. That's why this team is the way it is, no balls to do the right thing because they are afraid of hurting someone's feelings.
I don't think the loss is ALL Chad. BUT, there is NO WAY we lose that game if Chad was playing smart or threw a bullet. I don't care how much we stay on this topic. We're up 24-21 in the fourth, Pennington audibles for Coles and throws a TERRIBLE floater that let Aaron Ross make a move to intercept it on the 2. That was unofficially the beginning of the end for us. It was first down and we were in field goal range, and it turns into Dyson getting bitched by Burress for a 54 yarder. I don't think it's arrogance or stupidity on Mangini that Chad is still the starter, I think he wants to keep the confidence in his team until $hit really hits the fan, or the bye week is when Kellen steps in with the 1st team. All in all, Kellen Clemens is hopefully on his way to become the QB that gives the team the BEST chance to win.
