Yeah...I know. What's bad about it, is the guy posted this article and Coleman's name is spelled correctly inside of it. Wow.
Coleman isn't the same player as a couple of years ago. His tackling skills and anticipation of the play has been down right awful. Let's see how Smith does, he can't be much worse than Coleman. If the season continues in a downward spiral and we have a top 10 pick.......Kenny Phillips, The U, would be the perfect SS for the Jets, a great run stuffer and can cover very well.
Oh yes (assuming we have a top 10), because a year after trading half our picks to move up to get Revis at 14, lets get another DB with a top 10 pick. Completely ignoring the biggest needs on the team along the Oline and Dline. Makes perfect sense to me.
yeah that would be really good considering Rhodes is SS and we havbe huge holes on OL and DL definitely, SS is the way to go
Eric Smith always seems to make big plays. This defense is completely lacking in that area. Hopefully he can stay on the field and that can continue.
OK expert!!! Who do you sugest we draft with a Top 10 pick??? O-line and DT help isn't an option in the top 10. There is no friggin way we use a Top 10 pick on a Right Tackle. There isn't a guard worthy of a 1st rd pick, not even close. Are you going to spend a top 10 pick on a DT Okam or Dorsey that doesn't fit a 3-4 scheme. There isn't much DT help in Rd 1. Campbell could play 3-4 DE, but will be a top 5 pick if he has other amazing year like 2006. My 2 options on defense would be Derrick Harvey , he can play both DE and OLB. Is suited to play DE in a 3-4. IMO, Harvey is going to be better than Jarvis Moss. Phillips is an option, he's the best safety in the draft, all others don't even come close. Phillips & Rhodes would be a great tandem. Rhodes can be the Ballhawk and Phillips the in the box SS. Our run defense sucks and in the right scheme, Phillips is a huge run stuffer. He is a great cover safety too. Just because we drafted Revis, doesn't eliminate Phillips....... 2 different positions. If you want O-Line help in Rd 1........Tangini has to trade out of the top 10 and pick up more picks.
Best line in the whole post. IF, IF we have a top 10 pick it is a complete waste to use it on another DB. Especially with the issues on Dline and Oline along with question marks at QB. You get more picks. The Jets need help along the lines, anything else at this point is a luxury. The FO got cute last year trading up for Revis and Harris (although I think they will be good players for us), completely neglecting both lines, and look how it turned out. Unfortunately, the Jets have to draft for need and can't go BPA. Unless of course you want to have a repeat of this year.
lol...I couldn't agree more. We will though and inbetween we will go and out and sign some ex NFL players that played in the 90s to shore up our lines. And then say how smart we are because he goes to church every Sunday.
who cares about next years draft how about a superbowl this year, all the pieces are in place, we just aren't executing
Actually, it's more like we need to start paying for big-name FA's. If Faneca is out there this year, well, 'nuff said. It's not like the Colts draft all their linemen in the 1st round...the Chiefs didn't build their old line of the past few years (not anymore) through the draft...etc. Look at the Cowboys this year, they added Leonard Davis basically and all of a sudden they're a top 3 team.
O-line with a top ten isn't going to happen.....You don't spend huge Coin on a Top Ten RT. At least I gave you some player choices available to the Jets in the 10 range. I don't think the Jet's got "cute" trading up for Revis or Harris, both are outstanding players with tons of potential. The problem with the Jet's O-Line, is that depth has never been addressed for the past 5 years and it's catching up with us. Losing Vet players on the line and not signing Free Agents was our downfall. Neglecting the O-line in 07's draft isn't the problem for this year, the past has caught up with us, and D-Brick, Mangold are a start to a very good future, we need more experience on the O-Line...hopefully the Front Office will address this problem with Free Agency. There was no quick fix player for our O-line in 2007's draft. I guess you would have been bitching if we drafted O-Line in Rd 1 in 2007, since your not happy with my idea of drafting Phillips....2 Dbs in a row. I agree O-line needs to be addressed, but it should have been with Free Agency. Lets' see how Free Agency goes and maybe you will see that if Phillips is available to the Jets, we might have our Ed Reed type of player.....he's that good. In fact, I think he's the best safety coming out of Miami in years...and there have been many good ones. Coleman isn't the answer and even if Eric Smith is decent, Phillips is a potential pro-bowl player.
If we spend a top 10 pick on a safety, my head will explode. We should have traded down the past 2 years and we still should.
