Thanks, Hydro. Once again, you saved me a lot of time this morning by having all the news in one place.
Thanks Hydro....we all look forward to your daily news posts everyday. You deserve a poster award this year!
One more for you Hydro  : Jets get No. 29 for Abe Wednesday, March 22, 2006 By RANDY LANGE STAFF WRITER The Jets, Atlanta and Seattle were struggling to get a John Abraham trade done. So they dealt a fourth into the game, the Denver Broncos, and suddenly Abraham is a Falcon. "It's done. We're rockin' ! " agent Tony Agnone said Tuesday night after word that the Jets, Falcons and Broncos (minus the Seahawks) had concluded a three-way trade of first-day draft picks plus Abraham. "John can't wait for the press conference [today]. He's fired up beyond belief." The Jets, who traded the defensive end for Atlanta's new first-round pick (29th overall, acquired from Denver), are pumped, too. Denver in turn gets the No. 15 choice from the Falcons. On a day when the Jets reportedly signed unrestricted free agent wideout-punt returner Tim Dwight, they finally resolved the two-year contract impasse that prompted them to tag Abraham as their franchise player for the second straight year. The trade to the Falcons enables Abraham to sign the long-term deal the three-time Pro Bowl player had sought and that the sides had agreed on last week during his visit: six years, $45 million, with almost $18 million in guarantees. The Jets and Falcons did little talking the previous three days. The Jets had wanted Atlanta's 15th overall pick and the Falcons wanted to part only with their second-rounder, No. 47. The Seahawks jumped in by offering their 31st overall pick, which the Jets agreed to. But Abraham's heart all along was in Georgia, not the Pacific Northwest. However, Seattle provided the template for Denver. The Broncos offered the Falcons their own first-round choice plus two mid-rounders, one believed to be in Round 3 next month and the other next year. That worked for the Falcons, who then satisfied the Jets' need by sending them the 29th pick. Falcons' owner Arthur Blank was instrumental in getting the negotiations moving again when they seemed in danger of collapsing. "He was the big player," Agnone said. "He said, 'Get this done. This is my kind of guy.' " Why Abraham wasn't the Jets' kind of guy remains puzzling. One theory: The team never forgave him for his partying ways, which resulted in a DUI arrest and a one-game suspension in 2003. Also, owner Woody Johnson has been reluctant to lay out large sums of guaranteed money. And the Jets may have felt Abraham would not have been worth the price in coach Eric Mangini's new 3-4-based scheme that doesn't play to his 4-3 pass-rushing strengths. New general manager Mike Tannenbaum took awhile to pull the trigger on this deal, and the divorce with a talented player was messier than it should have been. But the bottom line is that Tannenbaum has executed two good trades in the last week, giving the Jets a QB competitor for Chad Pennington in Patrick Ramsey and two picks, Nos. 4 and 29, in the first round. "The Jets made it clear from the start that they would not accept anything lower than a first-round selection," said an NFL source. "They stuck to their guns and got what they wanted." BRIEFS: Dwight was reported to have signed a four-year deal with a $750,000 signing bonus to leave the Patriots for the Jets. ... Philadelphia offensive tackle Jon Runyan arrived Tuesday for a visit today, according to a source. ... The signings of DE Kimo von Oelhoffen and LB Matt Chatham were announced. ... The team's 10-week, 40-session off-season strength program began Monday and all players under contract were in attendance, including Pennington. ... Jets' scouts are expected to be at today's pro-day workouts for Texas quarterback Vince Young and North Carolina State defensive end Mario Williams.
Great job again, hydro! The thing these reporters like to ignore.... how many players on the Pats D get 10 sacks a year? Super bowl teams usually (especially in the 3-4) have high TEAM sack totals, but they get spread out. The scheme is designed to disguise the pass rush. The LB's get more sacks. Abraham does NOT fit the 3-4. The other thing these morons don't seem to grasp is the word "rebuilding". Also notice the built in bias.... they keep calling JA 27 years old.... yeah, for another what, 5 weeks? Splitting hairs maybe, but it shows the continuing attempts to make the Jets look as bad as possible, while they still claim that they are objective. They really think we're stupid. Where do any of these writers talk about how Tangini has come in and are bulding a team of their own... a plan... a system, getting rid of the locker room lawyers, the whiners, the complainers, and the questionable character guys? Let's face it.... JA is good, when he plays, but he isn't a top five DE either. Reading this stuff, you'd think we traded a HOF DE.
When will you guys stop posting the news that's available to everyone on various other websites? I grab the thread thinking that it's going to be an opinion or some interesting information and it just turns out to be a rehash of the news that's available on newyorkjets.com or on http://prosportsdaily.com/nfl/jets .... I don't get it. Is this really something that's necessary for you to do?
This is a heck of a lot more convenient than going to five different sites for articles. You really do need high maintenance attention, don't you?
The greater question would be, why on earth does someone like you complain about the above thread other than the fact that you've got to be completely bored out of your mind and have nothing better to do with your time today other than being a troll and soliciting a public spanking? You have an option... don't read the thread. Go to another and respond to that one. I see nothing wrong with him posting all the Abraham news above concisely in one thread. In fact, I rather like it.
