Should we have spiked it and had Nugent attempt the 55 yarder?

?

Should Nugent have tried the FG from 55 yards instead of Chad trying to get us closer

  1. Yes, we might as well have let him kick it from 55.

  2. No, we were not close enough and he'd have been way short.

Instead of Chad trying to get 5 more yards and ultimately throwing the INT, would you have preferred that the ball be spiked and we send Mike in there for the super long FG?

The wind didn't appear to be a factor in the game and he made one from 54 in the preseason I think...for the record the miss from 37 was totally awful.....

Anything would be better than that last pass.

The miss was unacceptable, but it was pretty clear why he missed it.

The wind definitely did play a role. The flags were whipping left when Nugent lined up for that kick. He's built up his leg strength quite a bit since last season, and this was the first time this season he's had to kick in windy conditions. So what happens? He overcompensates. He makes that same kick last year, the wind puts it just inside the upright. This year? He gets more leg behind it and it clangs off the upright. Unacceptable, but understandable.

...didn't we burn Herm at the stake for spiking the ball and going for a long FG? Burn baby burn.

Those who forget history are doomed to repeat it. Mangini did not forget history.

Herm took a knee and lost a yard or two.

It was the right call trying to pickup a few more yards, just poor execution.

No we burned Herm at the stake for kneeling down and making a long FG even longer. I guess you forgot history?

Why does Chad keep engineering late game drives that have us looking for a field goal instead of getting into the endzone?

I swear Vinny threw a ton of interceptions late when we were trying to catch up but I don't remember us ever having to think about 55 yard FG's when he had as much time as Chad had on Sunday.

There's no way you're kicking a 55yd FG in that stadium. The place is a wind tunnel.

Good idea, bad execution, he needed to throw downfield on the drive and let a WR make a play......

Bingo! Tendencies allow for terrific game planning. It wasn't very hard to see it was going to be a little dump off to a check down receiver or a 5 yard curl at the side line! If people at a bar can guesse whats coming what do you think a Coach at the game can predict!

We only kept going because we had more time. Would you rather we take a knee like Herman did?!

EDIT- I guess that point has already been made lol

We all know nugent has the leg to make a 55-56 yarder. His kickoffs have been really deep, and remember he nailed a 54 yarder last yr that would've been good from 60.

I didn't vote, because I feel we made the right move by trying to get closer with 11 sec left, but had we kicked it, I don't think nuge would've been way short.

I liked the call to move closer even though nuge had a shot at a 56 yder, but the point is you want to make the kick as easy as possible (56 is one hell of a kick), and trying to get closer was the right call. The wrong call was chad trying to force a pass. He should've just throw it away if no one was open.

The thing that we need is the ball thrown down the field. I can't remember the last time we got a PI call just by taking a shot down field.
