I'm not sure he's played yet this year, he's been invisible.

I really dislike the guy. Last year he was excellent. I'd start giving his snaps to David Bowens, who seems like a real effort guy. I'm fairly certain it wouldn't be that much of a dropoff.

Thomas hasn't adjusted all the well to the move to strong side linebacker. That said he's still a lot better than Victor Hobson. The Jets need to get him a bookend and move him back to the weakside if they want him to reprise his good 2006 season.

hahaha. who originated that, i can't remember? was it Byz? SundayJack?

anyway, i agree Thomas hasn't shown up this year. but i think he's one of those players who benefits from having better players around him; if the rest of the D isn't good, he's not talented enough to stand out and make a difference himself. but if you put him on a good Defense, he'll make plays.

once we get another OLB, and a better DL, i think Thomas plays solid. since that won't be happening this year, expect to lose sight of him.

So who HAS been outstanding so far? Whilst I agree that Cacti is in cloak mode , he is one of many.

  9. Brdwysux had a good point that he has moved to the strongside. He's not playing in as much space as he once was, the space that allowed him to use his size and burst. He's been better than Hobson was...but unfortunately he's not making alot of plays.

unfortunately, no one has been outstanding.

and even more unfortunately, if i had to pick one guy, i'd say Revis, who missed half of camp and he's a rookie. what does that tell you about the rest of the Defensive players?

If Thomas ever ran a 4.6 or whatever, it must have been a mistake. He blitzed form the left yesterday and looked like he was jogging.

He looked like he was running on his toes like he was afraid of getting blocked....they player that impressed us so much last season is not the one that has been on the field thus far.

In my opinion, the whoel D is sort of suffering form this same type of thing, players not playing up to their potential....

Jack-after one of the big losses last year...had me on the floor because it was such an apt description.

Then he turned it up and oh man was he impressive...must be the change to the strong side unless you want to give Slowhoffen credit for his meteoric rise.

The actual 3-4 players we have are crap and the 4-3 D we have can't do 3-4.
Win is a win is a win I know , but these were the Phins , second to only the faiders in crapness .

as much as id like to pin some of the defensive woes on BT i cant. as a unit the defense has been unimpressive and seem to take a laid back attitude when they line up.

last year was BTs best year, and his only season where he made a real contribution. i dont know why anyone expects that he should be the same player he was in consecutive seasons. the guys had more valleys than peaks and thus far has been a bitter dissapointment.

surrounding thomas with better players isnt the answer for thomas, its the answer for the defense. its not like hes got a nose for the ball either. even though vilma had a bad year by his own standards vilma still makes a solid contribution week in and week out. i cant really remember when thomas had a real good string of 4-6 games in his career...

he didnt dissapear, he just never really showed up. (i dont think showed is an actual word, but im going with it for now...)

It tells me they're not being properly prepared and coached up right.

All of these guys arent stiffs. Yet, they arent producing. They are taking bad angles, out of position, playing on their heels.

You cant fire all the players, but you can make some other changes.

I actually think Bowens is the one who gets hit the hardest on running plays. Every single time I see Bowens in there is a huge running play to his side.

Eating my morning cereal and who's picture is on the back of my milk but Brian Thomas.

And to think when they re-upped him people were talking about him filling in the role that McGinest had all those years in New England. Lol to that.

He's out of position right now and teams are not running at him much anyway. What does that tell you about his contribution to the defense?

If the Jets want sacks out of him they need to move him back to the right, however people really aren't running at him and Barton much.
