Guys people over at an Atlanta Message board are saying that this is a done deal...I think we should be really excited for getting these picks and a physical player... 2006 second rounder, 2007 second rounder, and TJ Duckett Thats a NICE package of players and picks...
I'm telling you, that guy's a terror and has the ability to do the job. 3rd Down and 3 or less yards, give him the ball and let him feed!
Did anyone watch the Atlanta - Chicago game? Atlanta's playoff lives on the line. TJ 0/4 on 3rd and 4th and less than 1 attempts. No thank you. No gracias. No grazie.
This seems like a very fair deal. Helps set us up this year and gets us off to the races next year. Look at this guy; he's a beast. Sign the deal and get it done.
Yeah...I think three people are saying that their sources are saying the same thing... Also they said that the mod of the board was going to post some big news on the board...
Yeah, Chicago is a good defense, but it stands to reason that a 260 back gets some 3rd & 1's converted. I mean, we haev Wilfork and other solid run stuffers in our division as well. How many excuses are we going to make for him?
This is the best argument for Duckett IMHO. We've been dreadful running on 3rd and short. All those folks, including myself, that are high on Lendale White should love this pickup. Duckett is a load if we can whip him into shape. With that said, I'd prefer Demo as well. Heck, I'd take Demo and just this year's 2nd rounder for Abe.
I am not making excuses for him, but the guy will not convert on every 3rd and one...he isn't perfect
Duckett was highly touted coming out of college, but was stuck splitting time with Dunn. This is a guy you hand the ball to 25 times a game until the opposing front 7 just doesn't want anymore. To my knowledge, Atlanta never did that. Which begs the question... Why the hell did they waste a high draft pick to be only a short yardage back? Sounds pretty Hermway if you ask me. If, and yes that is an if, you get Duckett into good enough shape, he would be an absolute animal of a workhorse. Use Blaylock as your 3rd down guy and we're in business.
Actually this deal would suck !:bills_suck: A second rd next year from the Falcons could be as low as 58-60 . If my sensus are correct the likely hood of the Falcons making the playoffs are pretty good especially with their upgrade to the defense. This could be almost like a 2rd in 06 and 3rd rd in 07 and TJ Duckett.
Duckett has 53 TDs here or something like that in 4 years in a part time(big one) role. His problem has been off field work ethic. Preparation and practice habits. He plays like twinkle toes at times. If he gets behind a power OL he'll fit better IMO. He lacks agility but can break tackles like the best of them. If he's the one included I think you'll like him. Most people question his starting potential behind the zone blocking scheme.
A 2nd and 3rd in 2006 is worth more than the 31st. Why wouldn't a higher draft pick next year in 2007 than the 2006 3rd rounder be worth more?
I have no interest in Duckett. I personally think he is only as good as his blockers, he is not a game changer. I much rather draft a RB and go with CMART and Ced too.
Yeah, Atlanta passed up on ED REED!!! OMG! Don't get me wrong. I like TJ b/c with Dunn you need a short yardage back but here he didn't have much of a future after the zone blocking scheme came along. He'll be better behind a pound it out type OL.
This is true. Anyone have any stats on Duckett-40 time, weight, etc.? It is possible that he was just misused in Atlanta. He seems to have the potential to be a Bus-like player.
