First off, I have no interest in being a "look at me guy" - er, mostly because I'm not a guy. Yah, yah, 'Grasshoper", I get it. Besides, grasshoppers hang onto your windshield like hell. Ever see that chit when you're going 80 mph? It's why Pennington knows Feng Shui, by the way. Duh.
Pennington wanted Moss. http://www.nydailynews.com/sports/football/jets/2007/05/03/2007-05-03_pennington_wanted_moss.html
Chaz Sexington After catching 26 TD passes from Chaz Sexington in 1997 (at that time an NCAA single-season record), Moss was 4th in Heisman voting (that's the year Swint's boy Charles Woodson took home the trophy). Moss finished up his career at Marshall (only two seasons) first in TD receptions (53), third in receptions (174) and second in yards (3,529 yards). http://gheorghe77.blogspot.com/2006/11/we-aremarshall.html
Exactly right. Not only does he catch one of the last two, He catches the one that looked like an overthrow in the first quarter (I think the CB got a hand on McCraphands as he went by him.....)
How about the 14 yard catch he made on third down, on the sideline, three feet over the CB's head, 3-4-NE 48 (13:48) (Shotgun) 12-T.Brady pass short left to 81-R.Moss ran ob at NYJ 38 for 14 yards [63-D.Robertson]. Or this one.... 2-9-NYJ 41 (11:34) (Shotgun) 12-T.Brady pass short left to 81-R.Moss pushed ob at NYJ 29 for 12 yards (36-D.Barrett or this one... 2-7-NYJ 14 (3:01) (Shotgun) 12-T.Brady pass short right to 81-R.Moss to NYJ 1 for 13 yards (24-D.Revis). Face it the guy is 6'4" and fast. Pennington could be throwing 12 yard balls to him all day, and the simple fact is his height, wingspan, and the respect his speed commands make him better than anyone on our roster right now. For a fourth round pick. I'm sure Harris will be a nice player in this league, but we could have traded our third rounder, Got Moss, Kept him off of the divisional rival that currently is the best team in the division, and possibly still got harris by throwing in next years 3 to move up, but if we couldn't, Moss + Another player easily > Harris.
Thats a fair point..... Gee...I'm sure that it wouldn't make too many DC's crap the bed, if they were lining up against Coles, Cotchery, and Moss on every play, with Baker and Jones, or Washington, with only Baker and the FB swapping in and out.
Moss said Pennington is best QB "Randy Moss, you may recall, once said his former Marshall teammate Pennington is the best quarterback with whom he's played." http://www.northjersey.com/page.php...lRUV5eTY2NTMyMjcmeXJpcnk3ZjcxN2Y3dnFlZUVFeXk5
It was a horrendous mistake not getting Moss. He would have loved to play with his old college QB but our front office really buys into this choir boy garbage and the team will always suffer because of it. The funny part about that is Mangini suppossedly learned that from Belichick who cares less about it.
Yeah where are all those posters who said they did not want RM cause he was a cancer in the L/room + he was way past his prime?
Ah but maybe if we had gotten RM maybe EM would say well now that we have a burner it is time to put in a QB that can get him the ball instead of a noodle arm QB whose ball dies after 10 yards.
Guys.. Moss told the Raiders the only team he'd report to was the Patriots... that should end this discussion right there.
Stop thinking "Penny can't throw to Moss" blah blah blah, keeping an impact player away from a team in our own division would have been worth it. Look what Brady to Moss has done in 2 weeks. Even if Moss sucked on our bench it would make a huge difference in the Pats NOT having him. For a 4th round pick, come on! Oh well add another one to the best offseason in Jets history, or lack thereof.
Nonsense. That was a rumor started by ESPN and he NEVER said that. He would have gone to any team that had a chance of winning to get out of Oakland. The Jets were in the playoffs last year and he would have been thrilled to come here.
I cannot understand why we didnt go after him, especially considering that the guy hung around after a game to talk to Chad about the two of them playign together again.
I think the bigger mistake was not going after A Thomas this offseason. A player like Thomas would have helped our D more than Moss would help the O, unless Moss can play on the OL.
We should have gone after both of them. We had the money. Hell we still have the money as we didn't spend a dime of it. Well, I guess we spent some of it.
