Every team out there knew that Herm wanted out and knew that the Jets were not going to be keeping him, so they offered lower compensation, and we ended up with a crapola 4th round pick. Now with Abe, the Jets are basically telling the league we're not going to keep him, and he is making it obvious that he wants out. So, please tell me, where the hell is the ground we have to stand on here? Abe is basically in no man's land. Teams are saying, "Let's offer them crap because eventually they will have to take it, or be stuck with a guy they don't want to have to pay". And, that is exactly the situation right now. Franchising him will cost us alot and we have a high pick that will cost alot. As much as I support demanding a first rounder, I can understand why we aren't going to get him. The front office has made it far too obvious that they really wanna get rid of him, and we're starting to look desparate. Tanny needs to make it clear that we have no problem keeping Abe if we can't get what we want, even if he acts like a baby about it.
OK well I have thrown it out there so call me on it if I am wrong, which I may be, but something makes me think that the longer it takes to do the deal, the worse our end will get.
I'm much more happy having Tanny as the GM. If Bradway were in this situtation, he would have taken the first offer.
are you looking at the same situation that everyone else is? tanny has already stated if we don't get equal value for a 3 time pro bowler, we will keep him.
We dont look desperate at all. We look strong if anything because we are not giving and allowing an offer of just a second round pick. You have your facts wrong. With Herm, we had a weak front office that crumbled under his demands. In this situation we have already showed that we have a set value on Abe (a 1st rounder) and will not back down from it. Our organization has even said that they have no problem keeping Abe for this coming season by the fact that they even said that they are not having a set time table for moving him. The organization in this case has the control. Abe can demand that he wants to play for whoever he wants and unless we agree, he can not move. You make is sound as though Abe is controlling this situation and he is choosing what is occuring and you are flat out wrong. Money talks and BS walks. We can keep him and even if he wont sign the Franchise offer sheet and he sits out it is him who is being negatively affected. Watch how quick he returns when he is getting no check each week and still has to pay his bills.
Herm was actually going to get fired after last season so Bradway said screw it...Chiefs want him let's get something for him....anything And we received a 4th...instead of nothing. This is definitely a different circumstance with Abe....Abe's not going to get released.
I think the main reason why we settled for a 4th is because no other team wanted to trade for him. Several teams are interested in trading for abe. Also bradway was still GM and he did a favor for his buddies in KC.
Exactly, we fired the guy and got KC to pick up his salary and give us a draft pick. How is that being hosed?
did he actually say that??? i remember him re-iterating that abe was still our property but i dont remember him saying that?im not busting balls here i was just wondering if youre right and he actually said we'll keep him...anyone else confirm this? ihope he did say that i just dont remember that verbage
How about we just keep Abraham if the Falcons don't wanna pony up for him. He'd work really well as that 4th LB in a 3-4 scheme...
