We need linebackers if we're going 3-4. Vilma, Williams, Barton, and Hobson are a somewhat undersized bunch, but if the DL can keep the OL off of them, they would be like a swarm of killer bees. I make this move and don't look back. This would open the door for Mario at #4.
That'd be a great trade, I don't know much about Williams but that 125 tackles last year looks really good. Him and Vilma would destroy defenses for years.
Its more likley than you think. Boley had a very good year last year which could cut down on D Mo's playing time. He would be a very good WLB but Brooking is already filling that position and he doesnt really have the size to be a SLB.
At first: Thanks kbgreen Then I think the Jets should think about him. If Hobson switches to ILB, he would be a good pick up for OLB. And the most negative aspects could be solved if he gains some pounds
Actually, I wouldn't mind this trade. We feel a position of need in linebacker, and get a good draft pick in return. The only thing that is worrying me, which was said before, is Williams size.

Derrick Brooks (Tampa Bay)-type with a knack for making the big plays ? Joined the program after twice earning All-America honors at Kilgore (Texas) Junior College (2000-01) ? Sat out a year before attending Kilgore ? Became the mainstay of Nebraska's defense from his weakside outside linebacker position, tying a school game record for most sacks by a linebacker vs. Utah State in 2003 ? He boasts excellent speed and athleticism to be either a cover-2 linebacker or strong safety at the pro level ? Started 24 of 27 games during his career with the Huskers, registering 220 tackles (121 solos), 12 sacks for minus-92 yards, 27 stops for losses of 116 yards, 18 quarterback pressures, three caused interceptions, four forced fumbles, five fumble recoveries, an interception, eight pass deflections and a blocked kick ? Despite playing only two seasons at Nebraska, his 220 tackles rank 16th on the school's all-time record list, while his 121 solo hits rank ninth ? Also holds the team's season records for linebackers with 11 sacks, 21 stops behind the line of scrimmage and four fumble recoveries in 2003 ? In two seasons at Kilgore College, he recorded 257 tackles, giving him 477 tackles during his collegiate career. ANALYSIS Positives: Has a slender, but developing frame, with good muscle structure, and defined chest, thighs, calves and arms ? Sees the "big picture," immediately reading and reacting to the ball ? Does a good job of shedding the tight end to penetrate off the edge and has improved his hand jolt, which he uses effectively to stack at the point of attack ? Has the speed to chase down plays on the outside, showing good form and tackling force to stalk, wrap and secure ? Has superb lateral agility, getting through traffic quickly to make plays in the backfield ? Has the hip flexibility and quick feet to turn out of his backpedal and keep track of the ball in flight ? Allows little cushion underneath and has the acceleration to recover when beaten ? Settles in and reacts quickly to the receivers in the short zone ? Best when blitzing from the outside, as few lineman can recover quick enough to defeat his edge speed ? Takes well to hard coaching ? Despite his size, he can step up and stack with power ? Above-average negative yardage tackler who takes proper angles, especially when coming from behind. Negatives: Size limitations cause him to get bounced around a bit when trying to fill the rush lanes inside (needs space to operate, as he will get clogged up inside) ? Strikes with power, but is more of a drag-down tackler than a smash-mouth, physical type of tackler ? Shows good timing going up for the pass, but does not have natural hands for the interception (hands are also smaller than ideal ? 8?-inches). AGILITY TESTS 4.56 in the 40-yard dash ? 1.56 10-yard dash ? 2.62 20-yard dash ? Bench presses 225 pounds 16 times ? 37-inch vertical jump ? 10-foot-3 broad jump ? 4.11 20-yard shuttle ? 7.02 three-cone drills ? 32?-inch arm length ? 8?-inch hands. HIGH SCHOOL Attended Beckville (Texas) High, playing free safety for coach Joe Koesel ? Class 1-A all-district choice as a senior, recording 115 tackles and seven interceptions. PERSONAL Sociology major, scheduled to graduate in August, 2004 ? Named to the 2002 Big 12 Conference Commissioner's Spring Academic Honor Roll ? Volunteered his time as a speaker at the Attention Center for Youth ? Son of Veronica Hicks ? Born on July 6, 1980 ? Resides in Beckville, Texas.
I would think that he would be the OLB speed rush kind of player, but he is a very sound LB with great speed.
Just listening to what Falcons fans saying Boley, 680/790, and AJC....... convince me that the Jets will trade Abe for ATL 2nd and Dmo William.
this trade would benefit both teams...it's also a pretty "fair" deal either way you look at it....let's get it
680 the fans if you were listening yesterday say(Chis Mortenson) that the Falcons and Jets were working on a deal where the falcons would send 2006 2nd, first Duckett(jets say no) then Dmo for abe, but before they could offer 2nd and Dmo. Talk stall when Falcons learned that jets agree to deal abe for Seahawks 2006 1st. Well that what he say on 680 the fans on monday
hell f*cking no...its incredible how you jets fans think Mckay is going to go from offering a 2nd round pick to offering our best defensive playes like Brooking, Kerney and Williams.....its just laughable.
