I missed that. What happened? I'm watching the Bears/Chargers slug fest right now. 3-0 Da Bears in the 3rd. Good defensive game.
Zach Thomas rolled up on his leg and a Miamia defender pushed Jansen backwards as his leg was trapped under Thomas. Dislocated ankle with break, likely ligament damage. Sounds career threatening. Surprisingly Washington put in Stephon Heyer to fill his spot. Surprising because Washington has Wade in the fold who's been a pretty good RT over the years. Stephon Heyer is an undrafted free agent rookie tackle out of Maryland whose been playing amazingly in preseason and today.
Not so surprisingly. Todd Wade was inactive for the game. He had a dinged shoulder and the staff was more worried about Samuels not being in game shape (he's been out all preseason). Heyer had never played right tackle and stepped right in. Portis and Betts even ran behind him and aside for one procedure penalty, he acquitted himself like a real keeper. Our running attack was great. 150+ yards, over 400 total yards on offense. Pete Kendall has been a godsend. The best news is that nobody would know we had nightmares about our left guard only two weeks ago.
When I heard that Miami and Buffalo lost in heartbreakers, I said, "GOOD. Hahaha!" But that was before I heard about all the injury mess on both teams. I didn't feel nearly as gleeful after that. What can you do, I guess.
I misheard. Sorry. What I didn't mishear was the 108 yrd. return against us today was the longest in NFL history. Of course that distinction goes to the Jets. Great. We'll be hearing about it forever.
A bruised ego as Jason Taylor and Joey Porter were repeatedly pankcaked to the tune of 191 yards rushing.
Yes, it was the longest kickoff return. There have been two other 108-yard returns. Those came on returns of missed field goals. Nathan Vasher on 11-13-05 and Devin Hester on 11-12-06
