Autumn winds cant be far behind, I know this because there remains no light at nine, The Air is brisk, the leaves now bristle Wont be long before we hear the first whistle, A new season slugs its way into our lives, many are ready to kiss summer goodbye And rightfully so for the Jets set to land September 9th we mark our first stand, Together we gather filled with passion and glee Nobody knows what the outcome will be The weeks prior to the day, no player was safe from scorn Yet come sunday noon, prior to the grass is torn Every Jet in his hands, holds our beating hearts From Cotchery's hands to Pennington's Smarts Optimisim runs abound the meadowlands and all thru town Yes they arent the biggest, or fastest around Nonetheless they have our support from quarter one through four Whose to say these jets cant soar Its been this way for as long as i can recall The days before the season, the first shades of fall I sleep and awake to the countdown of days Till my jets resume theyre captivating ways As we near the end and await the beginning even when were worried about winning Take a breath and appreciate this time, this hope we feel is one of a kind, Whether we win it all or die before winter this hope will inevitably flicker The seasons will change and the tempuratues will warm, The jets will go home and life will return to norm, Hate that the fact that we might not contend Despise that in 5 months football will end, But try and Hold on to the hope for as long as you can, Appreciate this gift that unites even the most different of woman and man
Nice effort! Good to see some creativity in this forum for a change. Now that the seasons about to kick off I need to roll some stuff out. The last few days I've been working on a parody of Edgar Allen Poe's "The Raven" entitled "The Penguin", but it just wasn't working. Maybe I'll get some inspiration in the next day or so....it just isn't the same since Herm left....he was my muse. DbJ
