My new home away from home...And for about $20K for my 4 season tix it will cost me only a little less than my down payment on my real house... BTW those sections between the two Jumbotrons are prime seats....
They didn't sell the rights yet. It will be sponsored but it probably won't have a name till '08 or '09.
Looks okay but I'd rather have a more modern looking stadium like the new Dallas stadium. People are going to be visiting that stadium just to look at it.
What a f----g bore! No character, nothing endemic to the region...and we're still sharing a home with the Giants. What a wasted opportunity.
That drawing looks like the spaceship-like structure that was placed on top of Soldier Field in Chicago. If you want to see an eyesore, drive past that, it looks ridiculous. You have the old time Chicago cement base with this ultra-modern, rounded glass structure dropped right on top of it. Either add on to what's there or build new, but don't do that. At least we're not doing that.
Since the JETS don`t want to tell me/us anything .I spoke to a relitive of the Mara family at the beach the other day on this very subject & for starters he said the Giants are waiting for the JETS to move forward with a PSL before the Giants do & he says the JETS are waiting for the Giants before they hit there fans with it ,He also said he didn`t think the PSL would be any higher then $5,000 for the most expensive one ....So we shall see ....
Greatest potential sponsor: JetBlue JetBlue Stadium, not only does it have a ring to it, it puts big Blue behind the Jets where they belong.
Actually, there is a good reason..sun glare. in the batter's eyes MLB mandates that stadiums be built so that the sun will not be directly in the batter's eyes. In order to get a view of Manhattan, they'd have to open up a westword facing wall. Defeats the point
as long as it has no roof,i'm happy. Hard to be over impressed after seeing what they are building down in Dallas though.
Wouldn't the opening have to face due east to see the skyline? For any games involving the sunset, it would be setting to the west and southwest in the winter. EDIT: I just realized you're talking about Citifield, that makes more sense. Sorry. Still no reason they can't do it for the football stadium.
I would think the main reason for not having an open end is that they would have to get rid of 20,000 seats to do that. I agree the view would be nice but it's probably not a smart business decision. Another reason is the wind whips through the swamp so they probably didn't want swirling winds messing up Chad's floaters (if he's still here in 2009).
You could put more seats along the sides, like another split level going up, a lot of ways to do it. You don't have to leave a whole end open like Shea, just a corner like in Heinz or Gillette. I doubt they are concerned with one player like Chad, especially since there's two teams involved. There's a very good chance Chad never plays in the new place.
I don't know. Why not just install some colored glass around the one that's there if they're going to build an exact replica?
