    Fair enough

Fris and one of the TEs probably wont make the roster. Thats why if they got something for one of them it would be awesome.

I have a lot more faith in Poteat than I had before last season. He may not be the guy you want starting for you, but he can step up in a pinch and has been doing so as a depth guy for years. I can only assume by this development that the FO is much more confident in how Miller has been playing than I had accepted earlier in the offseason.

I don't like this at all. Dyson was our most reliable cornerback last year. Unless we can land a very good guard I don't think it's worth it. I would rather sign Vincent and keep Dyson....at least until Revis is ready. Forget about the preseason....cornerbacks do not play lights out their first year.

It would be awsome to get something for them, on that we agree.

When I see Dyson's name out there, I start thinking bigger trade for real talent on the O-line. The return we'd likely get for Fris would be of the caliber that we can sign after next weeks cuts.

Getting some real good O-line talent would have me so happy even the most optimistic fans around here would tell me to tone is down a notch. :breakdance:

Anyone know what Dysons contract status/numbers are? If we can get good value for him I would do a deal. It would have to a high quality guard. The CB position is inherently more valuable than the G position. For me it may require a G and later round pick to get it done.

Wouldn't the cap ramifications of this be rather bad? I mean, he's only been with us for a year right?

Not that I'm uncomfortable with Revis, Miller, Barret, but if they go down...things could get ugly.

I'll admit to not knowing a whole lot about the group as a whole, but the thought of picking up Smiley is very enticing.

This would be the mother of all brain-dead moves. To tell you the truth, I'm not sure I even believe it.

This really doesn't sit well with me.....We really need oline help but i think we should sign that vincent guy....and see how it goes...i'm not in favor of trading a solid corner....especially going against the WR's in our division....not cool

Personally I would rather keep Dyson and sign Vincent, but the front office obviously knows more than us about Vincent, and if they are not interested in him (which it doesnt seem they are) than it is probably for a good reason. If we do need to trade Dyson though, I am not totally against it as long as we can get somebody back that is better and younger than Kendall was/is. Damien Woody and especially Justin Smiley intrest me a lot. If we could get Smiley for Dyson, I would be very happy with the trade.

Let's see who the LG we get in return is before we kill this thing. If we can get a very good player to fill the only gap in our OL, then so be it. But, Dyson's subtraction makes a good secondary average at best, and unless you can fortify the offenseive line in a big way I say no.

Dunta Robinson had an excellent rookie campaign in Houston, with absolutely no help...

    Just saying...

Dyson, I like very much, and unless the offer is out of this world, Dyson has to stay.

The way things are looking, Id bet on Revis starting most games this year regardless of who else we have on the depth chart at corner. Throw in the fact that the coaches seem to have developed a lot of confidence in Barrett this offseason, and its certainly possible that Dyson could end up being the third corner on this squad if he sticks around. I think they want somebody whos a little bit of a stronger tackler at the RCB spot, and Barrett or Miller would seem to be a better fit in that role than Dyson.

As long as they do a good deal, and not a desperation deal, I would have no problem with this. You trade out of a position of strength to improve a position of weakness and youve done a good thing, as long as you dont get ripped off in the process.

Normally I'd be very suspicious of a rumor that the Jets were looking to trade one of their top two CB's. This year things are different though, the Jets absolutely need to upgrade the talent on the offensive line if they want to avoid a disaster in year two of the new regime.

They can't just pick up a cut G on the last week of training camp, nobody cut then is likely to represent any kind of real upgrade over the stiffs they have now.

They need to get a good guard if they're going to solidify the line enough to have a chance at 8+ wins. They need at worst a Pete Kendall of 2004, a talented journeyman guard who can step right in and assume a leadership role.

I think if the rumor is true that the Jets have decided that nothing is more important to the team right now than fixing the problem on the left side of the line. They've decided that even giving up Dyson is worthwhile if they can get a Justin Smiley type solid guard in return.

    I think they're right.

The current Jets minus Dyson plus a good guard have a chance at 8-10 wins. The current Jets with Dyson and no guard will likely win 5-7. That's a huge difference and it's all based on a line that will be completely overwhelmed by New England twice, by Buffalo twice, by Miami twice, by Baltimore, by Cincinnati, by Pittsburgh and Dallas. That's 10 games the Jets will be in only by a prayer based solely on the weakness of the offensive line.

Hell I'm all for it. Dyson is solid yes, but Miller has been improving and Revis looks solid too. Miller and Revis are the future at CB, might as well start them now, especially with the need for a LG. Plus we still have great depth with Barret, Coleman, and Poteat.

How does that look solid? Are you joking? Justin Miller sucks, he's horrible and has shown no signs of becoming a good or even descent CB. He's our 5th/6th best CB right now, and our 4th/5th if Dyson were to go. I dont know about you but I sure as heck dont feel comfortable with out Dyson out there.

Name me one reason you think Miller is improving? I keep hearing this yet when he is on the field I keep seeing the same stupid kid with no knack for football what so ever.

Oh and , not to mention the last time we saw him on the football field he was being schooled repeatedly.

Have you actually watched him play, at all? He beat out Dyson for the starting job during the offseason. Then he got hurt and now he's healthy again. He's been extremely impressive, i don't know where you have been during the off season.

This would be an absolutely stupid idea, the last thing I want to see is Mr. (plays the man off 10 yards) Barrett starting at CB
