I live in the Washington DC area and I'm forced to listen to the Sports Talk Radio station 980..... .....anyway, they talk Redskins pretty much every day and there was a report by an NFL front office talking about Skins left tackle Stephon Heyer. Hes an undrafted FA rookie playing in place of Chris Samuels They basically said the guy is a stiff. They said he's not even an NFL player and the Skins are crazy to have this guy playing right now. Its a big enough deal that Gibbs had to come out and make a statement about the guy, which is on the front page of the Skins official website (link below) The Skins currently have Wade, a career tackle, playing Left Guard and this guy Heyer at Tackle replacing Jansen. The biggest complaint by callers and the show hosts is offensive line depth and the cry to upgrade the left guard position. We've had a great tradition of trading with the Skins, he's be out of conference and this would make a lot of sense....they'd probably overpay with a 4 or 5 for him. I'm no GM, but if we are not already in discussions with the Skins, we need to get on the phone ASAP and see if they'll bite on Kendall. http://www.redskins.com/news/newsDetail.jsp?id=28259
this is a good point and a plausible situation. the Skins line almost got Campbell's knee destroyed the other night. maybe they'll react desperately and make a move for Kendall.
Kendall go's we get a 4th round pick but then what do we do with the LG situation, do people think that Bender or Clarke can play that position to a extent there not a liability for our offense?
I'm not sure Snyder is even stupid enough to give a 4th or 5th for Kendall, they might be the only team though. Chances are a 7th is the best we can hope for, if that is the case, is it worth it to trade him?
In my opinion absolutely not, Clarke has showed he is not ready to be the starting LG and can we expect Bender to fill that spot?? Dont think so
Get Sirius satellite radio. I live in the DC area too and Sportstalk 980 is horrific (John Thomson might be the worst broadcaster in history). With Sirius in my car I can listen to ESPN radio or NFL Radio or Howard Stern or inifinite music choices. Once you try it you will NEVER go back
If we truly want to move Kendall, then that is a much better choice than the Phins. I din't see any thing close to a 4th. A 6th would be a steal and a 7th ok. IMO, we have no replacement on the team at LG right now though. Clark has looked shaky to say the least.
I absolutely agree. Right now we still don't know about LG, so Kendall plays, period. Live interviews with Kendall as recently as yesterday have him on the defensive now... denying that he intentionally snapped the ball too high to Clemens.. i.e.: "Why would I jeopardize a fellow teamate that way?", etc. He's still here, still playing, we still need him at that position and he's still under contract. So play, bitch, play.
Thats the kinf of thinking that the management are showing. Getting rid of Kendall now would be detremental to the teams chances this year, the management believe we have a contending team so they want the 'best team' on the field on opening day, after the Clarke experiment failed it is realised that Kendall is a part of that 'best team'. The only way we trade him is if we get a competent LG back, something i dont think we will ever get so expect to see a lot of Kendall this season.
Yeah after witnessing that disaster vs Minnesota I'd be willing to pay Kendall the money he wants. This team is in big trouble offensively if the oline doesn't improve.
good post i wouldnt mind trading kendall for a 6th or 7th...and then turning around and trading a 4th or 5th for a potential replacement
a UFA-Rookie that wants to play is better than a All-pro that has to play. Get rid of Kendall, and take whatever you get. If he sticks around, he?ll hurt the team in some way during this season, either on the field, in the locker, during the media or in some other way.
For anyone that thinks he botched any plays you need to get your head out of your ass. Kendall wants out, that much is clear. Why, he wants more money. When in a preseason game, guess what? It's almost like a used car "demo" for all of the other teams- they see how you perform and if they really like what they see, they'll make an offer. A botched snap like we saw only serves to bring into question whether Kendall is worth the money he is demanding. He's a businessman and will NOT screw up on purpose as it only serves to take some luster off him as a player, and reduces his overall value to other teams, along with the top $ he can command. If the guy knows that others are watching you've got to be sure that he's going to bring his "A" game.
Very good point KOZ. After one of the announcers was point out that a Team that may pick up Tui if he's cite was the one he's playing against your point really hits home. Kendall is not going to screwup his play on purpose because he's hoping other teams are watching. If they were watching the Vikes game it did not help his cause.
I don't believe that Kendall for one minute purposefully screwed up the snaps. I've thought all along that they need to be rid of him, but I'm coming to change my mind. The play of Clarke and the thought that Bender is starting this week raises huge questions. My biggest criticism of the team is that they could see this coming, chose the fight with Kendall and did nothing to protect themselves at this position. Unless they are confident that they can fill in by picking up a late TC cut, they've left themselves (and Pennington) incredibly vulnerable.
