It depends on the draft. The Jets have made it clear that they want a 1st round pick, not a second and third, and I agree with them. If Atlanta wants him, then they need to pony up. What they are trying to do is take advantage of what they perceive as a weak front office for the Jets, and that simply isn't the case. The Jets are not going to let Abrahams wishes to play in Atlanta screw then out of fair value, and that is what Altanta is trying to do.
No - the Falcons have to offer something that the Jets will accept. There is no "rule book" for trades that says you use the value chart and offer a package that equals the 31st pick and the Jets have to take it. Nice try though. The Jets want a first round pick for a reason.
HAHAHA... that is just silly. Shit, if it were me and Atlanta somehow managed to get the #30 pick, and offer it, I'd tell them to give us their #15 or go f*ck off and send abe to seattle.
For all we know, the Seattle situation could be nothing more than to get you guys to offer us #15. B/c, even if you do get "Equal compensation" to that pick, w/ the way your FO has tried to jerk us around, Don't ya think we still might wanna send Abe to Seattle instead? You guys are gonna hafta go above and beyond.
The Peerless trade was also made by an incompetent front office, the new regime isn't gonna cave and give our first just because you or your front office think the 15th and 31st picks in the draft are equal value.
Im hopeful that we will use the 15th pick on a top young CB to pair with Hall. Webster has good fundamentals but he isnt anything spectacular and would be better served as a nickelback. We can always resign Brady Smith for dirt cheap and he's proven to be a solid DE if he stays healthy.
If the Jets accepted 31st value(600) then the Falcons 47th(430) and say next years 2nd or 3rd wouldn't do it? I know the Jets are after the 15th but they should've never accepted the 31st from the Seahawks if they wanted 15th. The 15t is double the value of the 31st. By comparrison the 47th and another pick first day pick easily tops that. Heck, even if we offered this years 2nd and next years 2nd thats still 700 value at WORST the Jets could wind up getting. The Jets should've never accepted the 31st offer. The 15th is double that easily. They've already shown they're willing to accept something worth half that.
What they've shown is that they want a 1st round pick which is what Seattle offered and Atlanta didn't. Its really not that difficult to understand.
Maybe the Falcons should trade for the 30th pick and trade that for Abraham? Would that make you Falcons fans happy?
Your POV is from a homer Atlanta fan, and our are from homer Jets fans. You need to realize that we control the destiny of the player, not vice versa. We have the ability to shop him for the best available offer. Our front office is not concerned about making up the difference between the 15th and the 31st picks to Atlanta. They can care less about Atlanta. They are simply shopping the player for the best available deal.
Man. Some people are ignorant. You have to match the value of the 31st overall, and offer something better. If both teams offered the same value, why would we trade to one team over another? It's clear we're after first round value and just because you offer us two later picks doesn't mean we have to bite. Sometimes you can't go by value chart. Think of who we'd be getting at 15 and who we'd be getting with a second and third rounder. Stop being ignorant, because Abraham is a top pass rusher in the NFL. The Falcons are going to miss out on him because they feel that drafting Tamba Hali at 15 or Tye Hill will equal Abraham.
Tannebaum is a mean s.o.b. SO abe you wanna go to Atlanta wheres it hot, chicks walk around half naked, and your closer to your daughter, and can party on the weekends with vick, huh ? Dont like our organization huh ? How about we send you to the other side of the country, where its raining 95% of the time, the girls always have on winter coats, and you can play parcheesi with hassleback. HA HA HA ! eat that you big baby
That's true enough, and I'm not sitting in either front office to know what is being discussed. So all the different scenarios we throw around are really pointless. Even if I have had fun over here discussing the possibilities with Jet fans. How about Robertson. Are the rumors true that you might want to move him as well ?? If so 1st & 3rd for Abraham & Robertson.
Would you guys be willing to give up the 4th overall in a trade that got you say...Matt Hasselback? ProBowler, young in QB years. Would you?
if both teams offer the same value then Abraham is a falcon, plain and simple. Your FO doesnt want him on the team at all and since they agreed to seattle's offer, why wouldnt they agree to any offer from atlanta if its the same value?? Besides, in 24-48 hours seattle may longer be interested in abraham once they have paid Hutchinson.
