Good to see the team play rough for a change after they threw at Arod in the 2nd. Most years in the recent past they would do nothing no matter who got thrown at.

A gutsy win today from a sub-par performance by Pettitte. Vizcaino almost blew it, but he got the hold.

Anyway, I was pleasantly surprised to see Myers designated...Didn't see it coming.

Sub-par? Pettitte would have only given up 1 run if Damon didn't mis-judge a fly ball which allowed two to score after two outs.

    Just a few notes:

    1) It looks like Brower = Meyers so far

    2) Suzyn was right in her judgment of Downs. He had been pitching great. What is she suppose to say this guy isn't very good. When his ERA is stellar.

    3) Sterling said "I don't know why Cashman won't listen to me" but I didn't here what it was about did anyone else catch it?

no, but it's funny that right after she finishes telling us how great Downs is, he gets rocked.

But Pettitte's location wasn't all that good today, 4 walks, just an "ehh" performance, even without Damon's F-UP.

I judge performance by runs allowed..I don't care how they get there or look along the way. Seems that's how most people do it too.

That's fine, I do as well...But it is frustrating that he had over 100 pitches going into the 5th inning.

This guy Brower has been around forever. He spent two years at Cleveland, 2 at Cincy, 3 in SF, 1 in Atlanta, 1 in Montreal, 1 in Baltimore and 1 in San Diego. All with a lifetime WHIP of 1.475. He's 35 freaking years old. Now we pluck him out of triple A and this is what Torre and Cashman think is going to help us? I'm beginning to think both of them are brain dead. They should both be fired tomorrow.

that's silly. a pitcher could be awful but get lucky. Runs allowed isn't always a great measure of performance.

I'm 99.9% sure this is just a space-filler move, using a guy who has performed well at Scranton, but is ultimately expendable. I wouldn't sweat it.

In case you haven't noticed, the only thing that matters is winning. You win when you give up fewer runs then the other guy. All the other stats look nice on paper unless you lose the games.

I hope so. It makes no sense to get rid of Myers for somebody that seems no better at all when you are starting the toughest part of your schedule though.

I hope it's true this time. Yesterday they said he was called up to replace Myers, maybe they mean it this time. The thing is there are no openings on the 40 man roster so just demoting Karstens or Brower isn't enough. Somebody will have to be designated.

Another link I found on it.

    http://mvn.com/mlb-yankees/2007/08/06/chamberlain-called-up/

And the Daily News has it this time so maybe I will believe it. They say Ramirez will be coming up this week too. Big turnover of the BP.

Somebody else is reporting this is how it will happen.

    Cairo to DL
    Karstens to AAA
    Kevin Reese DFA
    Giambi added to 25 man
Joba added to 40 and 25 man

1/2 game back again after Cle and Det won but Boston lost so we are now 6 back for the div lead.
