TO is an impact player who makes Dallas a better team than they were. To made Philadelphia better when he was there. LT made the Giants better, Corey Dillion made the Pats better, Duane Thomas made the Cowboys better and Jim Brown made the Browns better. All of them were trouble makers who when put in the right circumstances made their teams better.
Evidently. You know, Duane Thomas was actually traded to the Patriots before the start of the 1971 season. He refused to report to New England and the trade was rescinded. Several months later he led the Cowboys in rushing in their Super Bowl 6 victory.
Duane Thomas was every bit the "Cancer" that TO is and the Cowboys wouldn't have sniffed that SB without him.
I was born in '77 so he was right before my time, but I've seen the NFL Films and I've read the stories, and I've seen the transcript from the "evidently" interview with Tom Brookeshier. This guy is not worth a biography, but I would love to see a good, four-plus page story on him the next time SI does their "Where are they now?" issue.
I can't believe the cowgirls signed him. God, our division is going to be so stacked this season. I have no clue now who is the clear cut favorite to win the division. Everyone looks to be dead even..
