Martin to announce retirement this week

    This caliber of player makes me proud to be a JET fan. I was glad to have seen his career as a fan of the NFL. He bleeds the green of all of us underdawgs.

    If only Edwards had the backbone to do what was right in this situation, Martin may have had a couple more years. You don't ask anyone to play with torn cartilage. I know, that's Curtis all the way. That's the kind of player he is. In Martin's case, it is more about leading and doing what was right - having him sit and possibly have immediate surgery, but we all know that Edwards was totally inept in the area of playing players when clearly they should have been on the sidelines.

    I am not whining about Martin; the man was blessed with a great career and has been a model player (and citizen) and one of the best New York Jets ever. Even if he could have played a couple more years, we still would have had to go in a different direction.
