Team A Gets: David Ortiz Team B Gets: Carlos Delgado, Francisco Cordero Team A has at first base (before trade): Carlos Delgado, Mike Lamb Team A has at closer (before trade): just Francisco Cordero Team B has at first base (before trade): David Ortiz, Carlos Pe?a, Victor Martinez (primary C) Team B has at closer (before trade): Bobby Jenks, Bob Wickman, Antonio Alfonseca (with Brett Myers on DL) Who wins?
It has been proposed but not accepted. Team A sent the offer to Team B. I was listing what players each team has to see if it helps them or not. Edit: I see what you meant. Edited it so it makes sense. My bad.
Ok now that its cleared up I'd definitely would do the deal if I was team A, Delgado at this point is addition by subtraction, and while losing your only closer would hurt it doesn't compare the addition that Ortiz brings, while I wouldn't trust Pena to be my sole 1B for a closer when I already have a decent group of closers already
I don't get why B would do it. They already have more than enough at closer. It doesn't make sense to me.
