And thats my main point is that people put certain things on pedestals and other things are not as important.. and the real main point of it all is that Vilma had an opinion on the matter and people called him ignorant for that. that absurd

I certainly don't applaud horse racing. They pump those horses so full of animal steroids that it causes their bodies break down in later years at a much faster rate, leading to shorter and more painful elder years. What is even more sad is when they praise most of these horse trainers like they are genius's and they are flooded with money.

However the conditions in the field of horse racing and dog fighting are different. In my opinion it is the difference between prostitution in a place like Las Vegas as compared to a third world country where underage girls (and boys) are bought and sold. They are both morally reprehensible but also have drastically different conditions ( with a few exceptions).

I will agree however that horse racing can end being just as dangerous to a horse as dog fighting due to the possibility of broken legs, which is clearly a death sentence for a horse. However I would bet that more dogs are killed per year from fighting then horses from racing.

The point of a horse race is to run faster and get across the finish line first.

The point of a dog fight is to maim (or kill) the other dog so your dog is dominant.

    I see a difference.

Do you consider a race around the block equally as violent and dangerous as a street brawl? Hey someone could pull a hammy running around the block. They might trip and fall, scratching their face and bruising their knuckles. They might even break a bone just like they would in a street brawl. I think we should make running illegal!!! :topper: My cousin broke her leg walking up some icy steps. I think walking up steps should be illegal too!!! :D

Would you force an infant to run miles a day? And because of all the inbreding their bones aren't nearly as strong as a normal, and because their only purpose is for breeding and racing, if they sustain an injury like you suggested, they would be killed because their use is over. You are showing a lot of ignorance in your stance

one man's gutless opinion is another man's indifferent opinion!!
To not stand up for dogs, when a man's career and future is possibly at stake is not gutless!! Sure dog fighting is illegal, and Vick should be punished for breaking the law if he did. But piling on him is unnecessary....... unless you value dogs as much, or more than people. That is not even close to being a norm anywhere else in the world, except here in the US.

When you deal with sports here in america its like you can't let you true feelings be known... You have to go your whole career just riding the fence and just saying nothing. then when you get out you cant be a Charles Barkley, Shannon Sharpe, Tim Hardaway type of person where you dont care what people think..

How do people seriously ask you a question and steer you in the direction of what they want the answer to be...

Simple answer, it's under investigation no comment. His response was not that it was a gutless attempt to make it seem like it's no big deal because he was trying to protect Vick. He should not be trying to protect Vick or sell him out.

Maybe you should read the title of the thread again...

I'm not defending Vilma. I agree with Vilma, and have the "guts/balls to admit it."

Well, since we consistently devalue human life at both ends, it's not any wonder that all this compassion gets misguided.....

I can't argue that your suggestion would have sufficed.... or not. What is disputable, is that he was gutless in his response.

agreed... people are left to feel compassion for their dogs because they feel more trust and respect coming from their dogs.. than other people. I just like to keep things in perspective.... They are still just dogs!!!

    Excellent point and I agree.

    Meanwhile, Boxing is the Same.
2 Opponents who train and go in and Maul each other.
Ocassionally there is a serious injury and Even Death.

Now add to the UFC. That Is Basically Dog fighting with Humans yet it's one of the fastest growing sports.
