ok, before we go nuts, and i get bashed, hear me out.... the phins a green will be together in another day or so. theyve already told daunte hes no longer in the plan ( http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=2894921 ) and he doesnt want a trade, and says they will have to release him. would you want to take a flyer on him if he could be had for a cap-friendly reasonable price and we cut that tut guy....id rather have signed carr, but this is a decent option all things considered...since hes comming off injury, and wont command big money....and i think we can all agree on his upside if he gets healthy....if he doesnt we are no worse for wear since we would have gotten him for a decent price.... let the flames begin...
Not really worth it IMO. He hasn't been the same since Moss left, and has taken too long to recover. The recovery time scares me and makes me think he never will be fully healthy again. I'd rather give Clemens his shot before bringing in anyone else
He has sat out most of last season with a blown out knee and subaquently had sever invasive knee surgery since. Believe me when I tell you that that sort of surgery is extremely tough to battle back from. I know because I have had it. Granted I did not have Dr. Andrews at my disposal. But he has not bounced back from it well enough to stop the phins from grabing a 36 year old QB rounding the last years of his career to replace him. That sort of meat cleaver knee surgery is always a tough thing to calculate with sports careers. Not onlyt are you dealing with reconstruction of ligaments and muscle, but also scar tissue that never seems to go away. You either miraculously bounce back, or you don't. He didn't. I say no way. Not a chance. His mobility will never be the same.
hhmmmm, Culpepper to Justin Miller: "hey man, I rented a cruise ship for a trip around New York, you want to go man. Nothing bad will happen, I promise!...." No thanks on Culpepper
Why would he come here to be a 3rd string qb?? Pennington is our starter and kellen is the guy waitin to take over. There really is no chance for him to play here
Considering that Culpepper apparently thinks that he is still a #1 QB, bringing him in to be the #3 QB would probably cause more problems than it's worth, and isn't what he'd be interested in anyway. http://www.miamiherald.com/588/story/119521.html
I'm guessing that Chicago is the team that will take a long look at him. He'd be risky but no more so than continuing their Bush-like denial on Grossman.
The bottom line is that this has no chance of happening because Daunte would want at least the backup spot. If he is smart he is will sit back and wait for injuries to happen, we really could have used this luck a couple of years ago. I bet somebody will sign him though and he will accept a backup role. The hype of Kellen Clemens on this board is flat out shocking. He has not proven a thing and some people have him listed him as the future. As intelligent as Jaworski is, everyone makes mistakes. I am not saying Clemens can't make it, but until he shows something whether it be in preseason or the season, I wouldn't count on him for anything.
I wouldn't NOT count on him either. He obviously showed something for us to select him in the second round last year (most reports say it would have been a 1st without his injury). His development must be coming along otherwise the CS would be looking for another backup. While Culpepper is intriguing, I'm gonna have to take a pass...not good enough for the fish, not good enough for us (See Geno James).
NE will sign him the minute he's released. Culpepper is nothing without Randy Moss, but everything with him.
I don't even think I would take him for the vet minimum. I am happy that Chad is healthy again but you never know what kind of hit with tear his shoulder apart again. I'm not a Chad Pennington alarmist but the Jets need their two other QBs healthy. I don't think that Culpepper can provide that.
Why would you cut Tutt, who is a FB to get Culpepper who is a QB? (yes, I know Tutt played college QB, but that's not in the plans here)
