You all know who we have who should be our PR http://youtube.com/watch?v=vV3g2Z-0ExA&mode=related&search= http://youtube.com/watch?v=s4N7nPq8N3o
IMO the best thing about that first clip is the block that springs him. He blindsides two guys with one hit!
Why? He muffed a few his rookie year, but he was a rookie... As his KR ability vastly improved with experience, so could his PR ability..... In the Pro Bowl, not only did he have no trouble catching punts from the best P in the NFC, but he looked great returning them... If I have a choice, I want Miller as the frontrunner for the PR job...
I hope miller. These guys get killed doomg punt returns. I hope revis becomes a stud cb and is to valuable to use a punt return guy. We already know miller will not be a stud cb
I don't want Revis returning punts, I wat him playing corner and we have had bad luck w/ great college return men who are also corners. Aaron Glenn and Miller were both great college return men who couldn't catch the ball in the NFL. Dwight stinks at this point but he has sure hands so if he's on the team I expect he'll return punts.
I agree. We don't need to waste 20 million or whatever he ends up getting on somebody who could get killed returning kicks.
Miller, put him on the firing line and feed him to the wolves. We have too much invested in Revis. Miller will NEVER be a starting CB on this team and is purely a kick returner for the team right now. If he goes down, it would stink to lose your KOR/PR but at least you wouldn't be down one of your two starting CB's. Please don't put Revis out there- I know that he's done very well in the past, but I have greater things planned for him.
Deon Sanders (kidding) There are two aspects to this argument that you need to consider - talent and position needs. Reference talent, Washington, Cotchery, Miller, Revis Stuckey and Washington are all capable (in that order). Revis may have been great in college but let’s see what he does in pre season first. Reference position needs, the PR must not be a starter unless his back up is can perform the starter’s duties with little to no drop off. That rules out Cotchery. If Revis starts then he is out. Signing Jones makes Washington an excellent option. Miller fumbles punts too much and the jury is out on Stuckey.
I don't ever want to see JM returning a punt for the Jets again. I screamed at the TV every time herm kept putting him back there to fumble yet again. KOR, hell yes, PR, hell no.
This is the perfect role for Leon to get additional touches in the game. He's quick, incredible acceleration, pretty decent hands as PR, and small. These are all the attributes you look for as a PR. I'm sure Revis will get a healthy stab at the position. It does seem as though we were looking for a returner in the draft this year, and probably one of the big reasons we thought so highly of Revis.
Miller went to the ProBowl as a KR/PR specialist so I'd imagine he has to be the front runner here, but I'd love to see Revis get his shot as well and may the best man win. I really have to laugh when reading some of the posts in this thread, it's as though a lot of you forget how valuable field position is and yards gained in the kick return/punt return area are every bit as valuable as runs/passes from the line of scrimmage ... part of the reason Revis was drafted was his excellant skills as a punt returner as well as his shut down ability as a cover corner ... it would be a real shame to hamstring a player because you think he could possibly get hurt ... gawd he could fall on his butt in the shower and break wind ... maybe he better not take showers huh?
We're concerned with depth more than anything. After Revis, the dropoff in CB talent could very well be substantial, with Coleman and Miller. I don't believe that Barrett or Poteat are nearly as bad as the first two though. On PR, you've already got some pretty solid guys lined up without having to risk injury to Revis, so why look for trouble if you have other viable options?
Actually I think theres less chance of injury while playing special teams than during the normal course of the game .. at least your expecting to be hit and are prepared for it ... do you have any stats to warrent your concerns?
