Here is my team My starting roster Murrell's team QB - Peyton Manning - Indianapolis Colts 4,000 yards consistently. The best QB in the league...Nuff said HB - Willie Parker - Pittsburgh Steelers Parker has developed into one of the top backs in the league. Needs to work a little on his fumbling. He'll run great behind my OL. FB - Jameel Cook - Houston Texans A very nice lead blocker WR - Donald Driver - Green Bay Packers Getting up there in age a bit, but still a lethal target. Manning will be licking his chops when he is back to pass. TE - Chris Baker - New York Jets A very underrated TE...even among the fans of his team. LT - Walter Jones - Seattle Seahawks Best LT in the league. He will be responsible for Manning's blindside...I'm sure Manning is sleeping well at night. LG - Steve Hutchinson - Minnesota Vikings Hutchinson and Jones make up the best Left side of the line in the league....again. A dominating run blocker. C - Shaun O'Hara - New York Giants A very solid center. Has very few limitations. RG - Kynan Forney - Atlanta Falcons One of the most underrated linemen in the league. A very stout run blocker RT - Jason Spitz - Green Bay Packers An up and coming guy. Had a solid rookie season in 2006. With a year under his belt 2007 should be even better. WR - TJ Houshmandzadeh - Cincinnati Bengals Houshmanzadeh will have to play 2nd fiddle to another WR yet again. But he will be a favorite target of Peyton Manning's. Good luck to the opposing secondary. DE - Leonard Little - St. Louis Rams A little long in the tooth, but Little can still get after a QB. DT - Shaun Rogers - Detroit Lions A great run stopper who can also get up field on passing plays. Needs to rebound from an injury that shortened his 2006 season DT - Pat Williams - Minnesota Vikings I can't imagine many people who are going to be successful trying to run up the middle on Williams and Rogers. A little older now, but should still play at a high level. DE - Andre Carter - Washington Redskins led the Redskins with 6 sacks in 2006. Has the ability to rush the passer. Also is solid against the run. ROLB - Keith Brooking - Atlanta Falcons All over the field is the best way to describe how Brooking plays. Has a few solid years left in him. MLB - Will Witherspoon - St. Louis Rams A very solid MLB. Will be able to roam freely with the studs on the line. LOLB - David Thornton - Tennessee Titans While Thornton is a great OLB he is my one mistake during the draft. Brooking will have to take over the Strong side. I can't have two guys lined up on the weak side. CB - Chris McAlister - Baltimore Ravens One of the top CB's in the league. I love his physical play. FS - John Lynch - Denver Broncos A veteran leader, Lynch will captain my entire team. SS - Antoine Bethea - Indianapolis Colts A young player with a ton of upside. Needed to infuse some youth into this team CB - Jonathan Joseph - Cincinnati Bengals A rookie in 2006 did not record one INT during the year. He was however towards the top in pass deflections. I expect great things from him in 2007. K - Matt Stover - Baltimore Ravens One of the most underrated Kickers in the league today. P - Ryan Plackemeier - Seattle Seahawks I needed a punter
DrewAlmighty's Team Offense QB - Tom Brady, New England Patriots (1) HB - Shaun Alexander, Seattle Seahawks (2) FB - Lorenzo Neal, San Diego Chargers (21) WR - Marvin Harrison, Indianapolis Colts (3) WR - Matt Jones, Jacksonville Jaguars (12) TE - Benjamin Watson, New England Patriots (10) LT - Luke Petitgout, Tampa Bay Buccaneers (14) LG - Mike Wahle, Carolina Panthers (13) C - Jeff Saturday, Indianapolis Colts (6) RG - Jahri Evans, New Orleans Saints (16) RT - Ryan O' Callaghan, New England Patriots (17) Defense LE - Jevon Kearse, Philadelphia Eagles (19) DT - Rocky Bernard, Seattle Seahawks (7) RE - Patrick Kerney, Seattle Seahawks (9) OLB - Keith Bulluck, Tennessee Titans (8) MLB/ILB - Ray Lewis, Baltimore Ravens (5) MLB/ILB - Mike Peterson, Jacksonville Jaguars (18) OLB - Dan Morgan, Carolina Panthers (24) CB - Ricky Manning Jr., Chicago Bears (15) CB - Ellis Hobbs, New England Patriots (20) S - Bob Sanders, Indianapolis Colts (4) S - Gibril Wilson, New York Giants (11) Special Teams K - Neil Rackers, Arizona Cardinals (23) P - Shane Lechler, Oakland Riaders, (22)
hmy: Drew is in the lead now.It shouldn't be this close though,Murrell's offense would spank that secondary rotten.
Congrats Drew. I would have been interested to see how you would have won this.... I thought my team would have won on many different fronts. Not because of the QB...whatever that meant. I thought that I had an advantage on both lines. Offensively I would have had a huge advantage up the middle. Bernard is way too small to play the Nose in a 3-4 which would have allowed Hutchinson and Forney to get to the second level on running plays to get their hands on Lewis and Peterson. Parker would have had runs of 8-10 yards. This would have given Peyton Manning the option to use the play action pass against a suspect defensive secondary and throw to Driver and Housh. I feel my offense would have man handled that 'D'. Defensively my two big DT's would have kept the middle of the OL busy all game long allowing my LB's the freedom to make plays fairly easily. I know Shaun is a good back but I don't think he would have had the holes to run. It would be a great matchup with Harrison and McAlister all game. Joseph had a decent rookie year last year and Matt Jones has been a bit of a dissapointment. That would have been another interesting match up to watch and could have gone either way. The difference maker on my defense would have been John Lynch. I think it would have been Murrell's 34 Drew's 17
Wow. I didn't realize I won. Last time I looked at this thread I was down and thought it was long over. Sorry Murrell, I honestly thought you deserved to win. I think if we did the reserves it would've helped me sure up my defensive line a little. I was going for Ted Washington to fill up the middle and would move Bernard to DE. This could leave Kearse as a pass-rushing-situational DE. I think my linebackers could be pretty deadly, though. My CB's... yeah... not that great now. I have faith in them with the right coaching. I like my safetys, though. As for Matt Jones, I think he could be deadly with Brady... especially in the red zone. He may be considered a "disappointment" now.. but when he's getting passes from Tom Brady.. I think he would be damn good. I did my OL for the long run, basically. I put a mix of veterans on the left side and young guys on the left. While not the best group, another group that IMO could get the job done. Thanks Donnie for putting this together and thanks to everyone that participated. I enjoyed it very much. I'd say let's do it again next year but the lack of participation at the end put that to rest.
I just meant that Jones has been a disappointment up to now in regards that it's tough to judge him, not that I don’t think he can be a good WR (afterall he was a college QB). We probably should have put together a game plan and stuff. It was fun though, I still would like to put the rosters together and create a fantasy team…I have a list of scoring rules for the OL too.
