The 5 and 0 start was against some very bad teams and Pennington was not great before the injury, Martin was the man carrying the load along with a dominating OL and Defense. Quincy Carter went 2 and 1 in 04 and in fact should have gone 3 and 0 except for some brilliant clock management.

Pennington sucked in the Pittsburgh game and was not the reason we were in that game.

He was the reason we were playing that game. I'll use the 2003 and 2005 seasons as exhibits A and B. Also 2006 for that matter.

He went four and 6 in 03 and 05 he sucked we weren't going anywhere with him in 05? I don't get your point on either of those seasons? 06 Chad was up and down and a better QB might have taken us further?

This is exactly the kind of thing I'm talking about. Yet Glenn Foley is getting a favorable review here for his three great games. Thank you for so quickly illustrating my point for me. The end.

I think you are selling short the importance of a strong arm. It isn't EVERYTHING but it is important.

But what's your point and what exactly have you illustrated? Has Chad been favaroble to the Jets? We all know he has been. We also know he has never lived up to his 02 season due to injury, ability, who knows? Will he ever be that good again? Can we go 3 rounds deep into the playoffs with him playing at 03, 04, 05 or even 06 level? If your point was when Chad sucks we don't win I agree. The question is can Chad play at elite level that can take us through 3 rounds of playoff football? If that's valid, at what point do you pull the trigger and make a change? If Glen Foley had not gotten hurt, Vinny may never have QB the Jets.

My point is that some of you guys are completely irrational when it comes to discussing Jet QBs.

You have one guy who has taken us to more playoff games than any other QB in team history and you keep rationalizing that by saying the opponents weren't good enough, other teams blew games, it should have been better, etc. Then he comes off two major surgeries, wins his job back in an open competition for a brand new coaching staff, takes us to the playoffs again, wins Comeback Player of the Year, and you still want to "pull the trigger" because that's not good enough either.

Then you have another guy who proved absolutely nothing, played only a few games beginning to end, was given the job and couldn't keep it, and he's getting positive reviews. It's baffling, that's my point that you helped me illustrate.

It amazes me that in a thread on what was essentially a blip in the QB annals of jets history. (Foley probable does not warrant a thread at all) that Chad haters still find a way to Bash our QB. The fact of the matter is he is our QB barring injury or very poor play. I for one does not want either to happen so let's get behind him, becasuse at the end of the day he is our man.

We are haveing a discussion about a player. Rationalize? Isn't that what you are doing? I think I'm doing the same, we just don't see it the same way. I never said Chad Pennington shouldn't be the Jets QB. I said prior to last season that a healthy Chad gave last years team a great shot to win 10 games and take us to the playoffs and defended it for 20 pages. I don't want to pull the trigger until we have someone better. If Chad is the best we have so be it. I would like to see a dominating great Jet team at some point with a great QB at the helm again at some point. I don't see Chad as that guy. That is not bashing Chad that is not seeing him in an unfavorable light. That is my rationale feeling from observing the NFL for 40 + years.

Fair enough. You're not one of the "Noodle Arm" crowd then, that's good. That's what I'm getting at here, not necessarily you in particular, although you were the first one to come back to me with how Pennington isn't good enough unless he takes us all on a magic carpet ride. But since you've been watching the NFL longer than me, you know how fleeting that kind of thing is to begin with.

But seeing Glenn Foley getting positive reviews on a board where Pennington can hardly garner any respect makes me nuts. That's why I usually avoid this forum during the off season.

I get your point and yea I go off a little to harsh sometimes. It's just a point of view, I would love Pennington to make me STFU.

We weren't getting killed, I think Ne scored to make it 12-3 very early in the 2nd half then we came back to make it 12-10 a few mins later.
