Now that we got Ramsey as a backup, do we trade the #4 pick down to maybe Oak or even further? Thoughts? Do you think Denver would give up both their 1st round picks for our #4?
Denver probably would to get Mario Williams, but I wouldn't do that trade. We need an impact offensive player, we wouldn't get one at 22 or 29. Unless... (this just came into my head) We get a 1st rounder from the Falcons for Abe also giving a third or fourth, and trade #4 for #22, 29, and a 3rd Then with our THREE first rounders: #15 Winston Justice (Vernon Davis if possible, but most likely wouldn't be there) #22 DeAngelo Williams (all the teams that would've taken a RB before 22 got theres so he could still very realistically be there #29 Nick Mangold #35 Manny Lawson/Gabe Watson Solid draft, huh? Adresses all of our needs. I'd still like to get more for the 4the though, but I'm not in love with anyone at that pick if we're not going QB. Just an idea that popped into my head, not sure if I'd do it, but if we could get all those players I probably would.
No and getting the 22 and 29 for the 4 would be terrible on our part as well. I would like to move down as would almost everyone else on this board. You always have to take into account who they are trading up for... so yes the Raiders might want to grab Hawk or Mario from the Packers/49ers so they're a possibility. The Bills also might be... as well as teams like the Ravens who would want a QB.
I would stay put as long as Mario Williams is on the board at 4. If he's not then I would try to trade down for a team looking to get Leinart or Cutler. I'm starting to wonder who in the top 10 is going to trade a qb. I don't see the Jets taking a qb with that pick. Cap wise it would be brutal to have Chad on the cap for 6 million, Ramsey for $1.75 (if they don't restructure) and a top 5 pick QB.
Justice isn't a good fit as a RT. He played RT in college but that was with a lefty QB in Matt Leinart which means the line is flipped and the RT is like the LT.
RT isn't our biggest need in my opinion, and this draft is really deep for OL. We can get a solid RT in the 2nd or 3rd round. Definitely the 2nd if we had 3 2nd round picks. I'd rather have 4 picks thru the 2nd than having the 4th overall. And possibly 6 picks in the first day if we get a 3rd for Lamont Jordan
Justice, like D-Brick, wouldn't be a very good fit in the system. We could draft Bunkley there and O'Callaghan at 35 and then we fill our 4 big needs with players that can play right away.
Vernon Davis Where ever we can trade down to to get Davis, I want to do that. The more I think about it, we need an offensive weapon or two. I think they believe they can get offensive line help later in the draft, which I agree. I don't think there are too many high pick WR's to choose from, so I think Davis would be a great pick.
What is a bigger need than RT? Who on our roster could possibly play there if the season started now?
So getting LT talent on the right side is a bad thing? You are obviously under the impression that he can't run block as well as needed. I disagree. Those RB's at USC ran through some massive holes he created.
LEFT Tackle. Adrian Jones can fill in at RT. We also need a NT and another ILB if we're going to the 3-4. Like I said, this draft is DEEP at the OL so we could get a good OT in the 2nd or 3rd round
The sound you hear is the screaming of Vince Young falling... With the addition of Ramsey, and Cutler probably going to Tennessee, Vince Young's stock has to be taking a free fall of Aaron Rodgers proportions. I think he'll be a first round selection, but I'm not sure where. Also if we want to trade down..I see Oakland as a trading partner. I've talked to a couple of very knowledgeable Raiders fans, and they'd be thrilled to get Mario Williams. I'd love to see the Jets get Mario or D'Brick. I'm not sold on AJ Hawk like many of you. Vernon Davis would also be a gotta-have, especially if we can find a trading partner.
stand pact and what to see what happens. ramsey is not the answer at qb. But this certainly gives us more options.
