I agree with you about the Troy Polamalu comment. Troy is great because he brings a rare combo of speed and athleticism to the safety position, he is very agile. Peters from the video I've seen seems is way too stiff. He can do that fire trick though! I don't know, he has long hair, tough call! Yeah I haven't been impressed with the clips I've seen, but would be more than happy if was a good special teamer for us.

Here's my prediction for Leonard Peters. He will make the team as a ST player, and his most meaningful contribution to the NFL will be getting some of his hair maliciously ripped out after covering a return, forcing the NFL to make an adjustment on the allowable amount of hair protruding from an NFL player's helmet. You heard it here first. I have ESP and shat.

Please don't get too excited about an UDFA. Some pan out, 99% do not. Keep that in mind. THere is 1-2 that look like him every minicamp that get cut. I hope he makes it, but let's keep the excitement level down a little.

Why do folks need to keep their excitement "down a little?" It's the offseason- we've just seen a snippet of play coming out of minicamp and folks have their favorites. We haven't seen this team hit the field in months, and any Jets news at this point is good news.

If a Jets fan on here is pushing for Peters for any number of reasons, let them do so.

Would you rather have 25 threads covering Pennington's weak arm or the fact that Miller can't play CB?

Because he's an UDFA.. what is there to get excited about? He was passed by 32 teams... 7 times!!

People can like a UDFA, have at it, but I'm sick of hearing how he's definitely making the team, and may start, etc etc... I'd rather hear about Pennington's weak arm.

History measures validity. And I would suggest that your view and the views of others in this thread, at this point in time, have exactly the same validity. Yet, in time, one will be proven to be correct and the other full of beans. We'll just have to wait to find out who was right. That being said, if you?re sick of all this talk about Mr. Peters, move on to the next thread.

    Peace out.

Guess since I do not agree with the majority that means I should shut up? I don't think so.

Nothing against Peters... I don't know anything about him... Point is, he's a UDFA, odds are in the favor of him failing.. . that's not against him.. that's just the way it is..

Relax, I?m not telling you to shut up. However, your comment about that?s just the way it is strikes me as being much nearer the mark. "Common sense", after all, tell us that the sun rotates around the earth - and that the earth in question is flat. For that reason, any time I see someone supporting an argument on the basis of "common sense" I take their argument with several truckloads of salt (if I bother reading it at all) - and it doesn't matter whether you?re using "common sense" to determine that Mr. Peters will not make the team is pointless or that he was passed by 32 teams is pointless. To me, "common sense" is about as good as "nonsense", whether I agree with the position being argued or not...

Don't read the argument then? Like you said, don't like what you're reading, then move on.

Common sense is about as good as nonsense... live by that argument and you'll have a lot of issues.

Here's the thing. Why walk into the Leonard Peters thread, where folks are gloating on his possibility of making the team, nice highlight tackles, etc, and start complaining that we're too excited about the guy?

You make it sound like UDFA's never make the team. Maybe he's an UDFA because it's a small school by NFL standards, that he has an injury-riddled past, or the knock on him is that he's not the fastest nor is he the best tackler.

That being said, UDFA's do indeed make teams- that's the beauty of picking up one of these guys. They're relative unknowns, but signing them involves very little risk but can reap huge dividends. This is the offseason, and the thread we are in right now is actually rather interesting. If you don't like it or approve of the content, why not respect the fact that others are entitled to their own opinion instead of preaching your "all UDFA's suck" mantra as gospel?

Well, gee whiz, if you don’t like the opinion of other posters in this thread about Mr. Peter maybe you should move on as well...

Yeah, because anything that you have to say about any issue should make everyone come to their “common sense” conclusion that will make everyone say”DUH”! Please, get a life...

I would love to see Peters make it , but have concerns about his speed and tackling. Not to mention his history of injuries. He seems to be a LB in a SS's body.

I just wanted to add my two cents to this thread.Leonard Peters was recovering from an achilles heal injury and wasn't supposed to run the forty at his teams workout, but scouts asked him to run anyway and he said he would. He wasn't 100% and ran a 4.7 forty time. His teammates all say he was the fastest guy on their team, and he ran Reggie Bush down from behind in Bush's final season. When Bush was asked after he was drafted who the best player he played against in college was,he replied it was probably #42 from Hawaii!!!He said that guy was everywhere and was in on every tackle it seemed.

#42 from Hawaii is Leonard Peters! :)
