If any team had a Michigan type stadium, could they fill it? What opponent would give the Jet's the best opportunity to fill a 100,000 seat stadium? I assume the Giants, am I correct?

we fill 80,000 every game, every seat is sold out to season ticket holders ( it takes 10-15 years to get the season tickets after you sign up) So I think if we could hold that many in our stadium we would sell out every game.

Not to be trollish, but ESPN says the Jets play to 98% capacity.

I believe the new Dallas stadium will have 80,000 capacity with the chance to expand to 100,000 with end zone seats.

that may be or maybe not the truth but every seat is sold out. I am sure the 98% comes from a small group of people not going to every game but important/big games are 100% capacity. The point I was trying to make is if we had more seats I dont think there would be any problem filling them.

Would they sell every seat? Yes.
Would there be a body in every seat during the game? Doubtful.

just remember years back when they used to count all the no-shows during Giants and Jets games. Sure the game was sold-out, and therefore on tv, but there would only be 45,000 fans there.

It's all about supply and demand. If you're the owner, and have an oversized stadium, you risk having to drop ticket prices to fill it up and therefore lose money. If you have a large, but reasonably-sized stadium, you create demand and can pocket more money. Remember for most owners, they look at a football team as an investment or a business, not to cater to the whims of every fan out there by providing $5 tickets.

I'd rather see a loud, full 80,000 seat stadium than a 100,000 seat stadium that is 80% full.

We could fill 100,000... many college teams can do it on a game to game basis, why couldn't an NFL team? I know college is a bigger sport... but with hundreds of college teams and only 32 NFL teams, there are more NFL fans per team then college fans. Those asses will get in those seats...

    Very true.

Just a note but I'm 99% sure that the largest crowd the Jets ever played in front of was the 1982 playoff game against the Raiders at the L.A. Coliseum at just over 90,000.......

hey the owner of the jets is a corporate giant. i can get jet tickets all the way here in texas through drug reps. theres no way the jets can ever achieve 100 % capacity.

The jets are 100% sold out, the 2% are unused tickets by the opponents. The jets could sell out every game w/ a 100,000 seat Stadium- many NFL teams could as long as they were playing well.

Putting the thread back on track- I'd say that some of the legacy teams, like Green Bay, could certainly fill at 100,000+
