I think the majority of the players just want less preseason games, don't they? Not an exchange. From what I've always understood, there are few players who want to play any extra games, but almost universally, they want less preseason games, to reduce the number of chances for injury.

Plus, if they added games to the regular schedule, you'd have guys up in arms over their contracts, which would now prorate across another game. Suddenly, each player would be making significantly less per game, and you can guarantee they'd be demanding restructures.

I'd personally love another game or two of real football. Preseason is okay, but there's nothing like a real game, regardless of where it's played. I just doubt it ever happens.

That's why they want more regular season and less preseason games. They WOULD get more money as would the owners. The TV contracts would go up significantly.

the players would probably hate it because of the travel but its a smart move for the league IMO

I don't know if they'd go up significantly... why? I don't see TV offering as much as they did this goround.

Have to be careful adding more games... While it wouldn't become the NBA, NHL, or MLB, one of the beauties of football is every single game has huge meaning.

Sure they would. Either that or they would lose those 2 games completely to the NFL network. The current contracts are 3.7 billion. They would go up proportionately. It's the one thing TV is willing to throw money at. Besides, isn't there a federal law that says the games must be shown if they are sold out? They would have to pony up.

I don't see the need for games in europe, the 17th game no big deal, but to go across the pond to play a game doesn't make sense. Imagine having to play a game overseas then coming back to play a team who had a local (stateside) game the week prior. The wear and tear from the travel would be a huge disadvantage

And that is why they are having such a hard time trying to figure out how to do it. For the teams playing early in the season they could probably arrange the schedule so both would have their bye weeks the following week. No idea how they could handle teams playing late in the season though. I don't think they have a clue either.

That's all well and good for you, you live in the bronx, some of us are lucky if we get to one game every few years. if every team played a game out of country (presumably mostly in europe) it would mean plenty more games for european nfl fans, not to mention more interest in the sport. i get so excited about football, and only have one other friend who's interested in it, it kills me i can't talk to people about games, games away should increase global interest and definitiely enhance my enjoyment. maybe i sound selfish but i feel i speek for most european nfl fans. never know, we may some day get a regular season game in ireland.
