Our Team as a whole I understand that there is a need to release JMAC to give more time to future playmakers like Brad Smith. What I do not understand is the Jets Drafting another reciever when we are at needs in fullback and DB. The Michigan LB was a good pick up, but it would have been great to see the Jets draft Rutgers HB Brian Leonard, he could've been a viable replacement for BJ Askew and a compliment to Thomas.
We don't have a need at fullback since we picked up the guy from Miami during the offseason, plus we have Stacey Tutt and Posciak. DB is looking pretty good right about now, with the addition of Revis.
I'll be shocked if Dwight is here ths year, he was a terrible PR for us and missed half the year. He's not coming back.
Neither Coles nor Cothcery has the footspeed to be a true #1. However, if Stuckey really has 4.34 footspeed, he will be a viable option to split out wide, and pull the safety over the top, to open up the middle for the other 4 skill position players in the 3 Wide set. IF....I'll say it again...IF...he is that fast, and has the release as advertised, he will open up the middle for the rest, especially Baker.
How many years did it take McCariens to learn how to give up on catchable balls? Smith needs to be on the field now, McCariens is way over paid to sit on the bench and be an occassional player in a 4 WR set.
They should absolutely should keep McCareins. Those wanting him out are the ones who just have a hard on for the guy. He's a very valuable third receiver on a team that isn't overly deep at that position.
I think he is valuable enough to keep, at least for now. If before the trading deadline some team's receivers are decimated by injuries and they offer us a deal we can't refuse, that will be the time to trade.
You keep him through training camp and if Stuckey or Smith step up to the point where he becomes expendable than fine. But for now you don't just release your #3 receiver when you have the cap room and no obvious replacement.
Tannebaum was just on Sirius and he was asked specifically about Mcairens and Tanny made it very clear that McCairens will still be a Jet this year. Interestingly, he was less emphatic about Kendall so there is a chance Kendall is gone.
J Mac is ok. Bottom line....a better stronger armed QB will make all receivers look better. Chad's weak arm & Jets' weak OL is the Offenses biggest problems. If Jets' get running game better, then Chad can play-action teams to death. But Chad needs trickery to have ultimate NFL success. Not the best thing for a QB.
Brad Smith is an explosive talent. He showed flashes last season and was limited only by his lack of playing time, similar to Cotchery under the Jerkoff Herm- Dick Curl regime. If the Jets could have gotten any thing for McCareines (7th rounder), I figure they would have done it during the draft. I, for one, hope we've seen the last of Mr. McSh-t in Jet Green and White...
