Sorry if this is posted already. My buddy called me up and said that Keyshawn was released and possibly headed to the Patriots...
What the hell...how many recievers are the Patriots probably going to use. You can't put Keyshawn in a muddled reciever situation where he won't get the ball alot ESPECIALLY when the balls going to be going to Randy Moss. Screw it I say bring him back at the very least he gives us a viable red zone threat.
http://sports.yahoo.com/nfl/news;_y...p-panthers-keyshawnreleased&prov=ap&type=lgns Panthers release Keyshawn Johnson May 1, 2007 CHARLOTTE, N.C. (AP) -- The Carolina Panthers released receiver Keyshawn Johnson on Tuesday, three days after they selected another former Southern California receiver in the second round of the draft. It was thought Johnson would help groom Dwayne Jarrett of USC, taken in the second round with the 45th pick. But apparently Johnson was deemed expendable -- he and Jarrett are both 6-foot-4 possession receivers. Johnson, who will turn 35 in July, had 70 catches for 815 yards and four touchdowns last season, his first with Carolina. The Panthers signed the former No. 1 overall pick last year after he was released by Dallas in a salary cap move so the Cowboys could sign Terrell Owens. A call placed to Johnson Tuesday afternoon was not immediately returned. Johnson worked as an analyst for ESPN during the network's draft coverage last weekend. When Carolina selected Jarrett, Johnson remarked he was "much like me" for his size and good hands.
sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=2855468 Veteran wide receiver Keyshawn Johnson was released by the Carolina Panthers on Tuesday, the St. Petersburg Times reported. "They said they wanted to get younger,'' Johnson told the newspaper. "That's fine with me. I'd like to go somewhere and help someone win another Super Bowl.'' The move came a month after the Panthers paid Johnson a $3 million roster bonus. While Johnson spent last weekend working for ESPN as part of the network's NFL draft coverage, he told the newspaper he would like to continue his playing career. Johnson, 34, has 814 receptions for 10,571 yards and 64 touchdowns over an 11-year career. In 2006 he caught 70 passes for 815 yards and four TDs. If you read that, he wants to go somewhere where he can win another Super Bowl. Clearly, that would be us.
It may not be us but some team WILL put a lickin' on Brady. Maybe Baltimore. With Maroney's health in question they may feel they won't have much of a running game this year.
Keyshawn was so happy when they drafted Jarrett and was saying how happy he was that he would get to play with him. Now the cut him...
Thats a slap in the face to Keyshawn, watching all 11 hours of the draft, you could see his new attitude, and he couldn't wait to teach jarrett the NFL game. The guy finally has a real true team attitude, and he gets cut. I hope we go for him.
Right. Like I said in the other thread, he's going to have a major fire under his ass coming into this season.
70 catches for 815 yards is a productive season. I'd take Key back in a heartbeat and I really don't want him in NE.
Anyone wonder where the heck the Patsies are getting all their money? And yes, Don, there is no way they pick up Keyshawn AND Randy on top of everything else they have.
