If we can't get anything for Barton, McCariens or Barrett, than we should go for an OG and a WR/TE.

Things we did not do today:

    Improve the pass rush
    Improve the offensive line
Get bigger to cope with the teams that push us around the field

    Things we did do:

Found a starting CB (90% chance)
Found an ILB for the 3-4 (75% chance)

I hope that what we did do works out and that what we didn't do we find a way to do before next season.

We're gonna win 6 or 7 games if we don't figure this out. It would be the rebuilding year that we kind of miraculously skipped last year.

Correct me if I'm wrong. Don't they say Revis is best suited to play in a zone coverage defense? I know that's what mangini likes to play but is a zone CB worth a #14 pick?

Because we had very few of our own free agents or cap casualties this year, we did not need a quantity draft. Instead, we needed a couple impact players at positions of need. We likely drafted 2 starters, so the draft was just what we needed. We now have the ability to cut or trade Barrett and Barton & reap the salary savings. If Barton or McCareins can be moved for a late round pick, we're in even better shape.

I like our draft. I liked Revis out of college and Mangini knows his cornerbacks, he made his bread and butter as a secondary coach. Plus he's taylor-made for the system. Harris is just a nasty run stuffer which we needed at the linebacker position. I'm really intruiged to see what he can do when paired up with Vilma with Thomas coming off the outside. People talk about us taking a step back but let's think about it for a second. Last year was the first year guys learned a new defensive system. Chad didn't have a conventional running game, and was coming off of injury. I just don't see the 6 to 7 win prognostications I think with Thomas, Vilma, and the rest of the defense with a year experience under their belt can take a big step this year and start to be the core of a defense people talk about. Rhodes took a HUGE step last year lets see him continue his progression. As far as the offensive side of the ball, lets see Chad with a running game, no one benefits more from having an effective play-action then he does. Lets see the combo of Thomas Jones and Washington, lets see the progression of J-Co. Patriots are the class of the AFC East there's no denying it theyre friggin stacked but 10-6 should be the expectation.

It's in the schedule. Easy to end up winning only 6 or 7.

Let's see. The Jets won 10 games last year. Who did they lose this off-season? Patrick Ramsey. Who did they gain? Thomas Jones, Darrelle Revis, and David Harris. So how are they now in danger of winning 6 or 7 games? I don't buy the schedule argument. The Bills and Phins got worse and both had shitty Day One drafts. No one in the NFC East is legitimately scary, although Philly has a good history against the Jets. I think Cincy is gonna get worse this year and, by the time the Jets face the Titans, Vince Young will be injured. Cleveland is not a legitimate threat. Neither is KC.

So the really tough teams the Jets face are New England, Baltimore, Pittsburgh, and ok - Philly. I'll even throw in Dallas. That's 6 games out of 16. Mark my words, the Jets will once again be playoff bound.

Frankly, if it were up to me, I would draft only linemen in the first round just about every year. At least until I thought I had built a strong team foundation. But, that being said, our two picks, or let's say three, are at positions of need and seem to be well-suited to our scheme. I was a bit upset that we gave up so many picks, but I'm willing to give them the benefit of the doubt - at least untilwe see them on the field.

The Bills were al;readt two of those wins from last year and Miami was 1. Yes we might beat them twice and that would give us 4. The rest of the schedule isn't at all as easy as last years.

NE twice, Baltimore, Giants, Eagles, Cowboys, Cincinnatti, Washington(No problem), Pitt, Cleveland, Tennessee and KC

    VS.

Tennessee, Indy, Jacksonville, Detroit, Cleveland, Chicago, Houston, GB, Minnesota and Oakland and the division games.

    6+4(division) easy games last year

    VS

    2+4(division) this year

That's where the 6 or 7 come from. Nobody knows how many we will win but it isn't inconceivable to win only 6 or 7.

Two starters in the weakest draft in years is a real good draft. Pats fans and Miami fans are a little shook up by how well our front office did. Ex.- In the second round we jumped ahead of Jax. and grabbed ILB David Harris. Jax was clearly targeting him, because they paniced and took and ILB from Hampton with the next pick. Pats thought so little of this draft that they traded away most of it as well.

What are the 2 teams you think are easy this year? I'm happy the Jets get to play the Skins, Giants, Browns, Titans, Chiefs, and Bengals. I have no problem with those match-ups. So I see the 4 division games plus those 6 games and that's 10 very winnable games. And the other 6 are winnable too - anything's possible. I have faith.

    "Worst Draft in Jets History"?????

Oh God I hope not. Not sure how old you are Tank, but there were some REALLY bad ones back in the day...

The whole "quantity /Quality" issue is debatable, but if we get 4 good productive players out 4 picks, I don't see any difference from getting 4 productive players out of 10 picks.

What you are feeling is anti-climax , I am too. Not because the draft picks were bad or the trading up was a bad idea , but because as a fan you look forward to every round to see who you get out of whatever is left.

The way I look at it is that we started the rebuilding programme the day after the season finished. The draft is just a small piece of the process.

May I also remind you that Colston was a round 7 pick . I'll bet we also ink some good prospects in whatever is left in FA.

Chill out man , we will be alright. Watch everybody else fighting over the scraps

i dont know how you can copare harris to vilma. vilma is a coverage linebacker who can run rbs to the outside and play great pass coverage. David harris is a run stopper up the middle, thats what his main job is pluggin holes and making tackles up the middle.

    totally different

THis year's Colston could be Joel Filani from Texas Tech. He's a similar type of player.

You really can't say that this is the worst draft in Jets history. I really don't like this draft but this is far from bad. It just seems like a draft that a good team would make (filling in the final pieces of the puzzle) and not a building, average if not slightly above average team would make.
