Just a thought but the Seahawks are in desperate need of a TE..if Olson is sitting there at 25, trade down to Seattle's #2 and get their second round pick next year as well. Minnesota could use a TE and has an early second round pick so we could move back there and get additional picks in return.
Cincinnati could easily put us out of our misery and take Olsen on the 18. They've got a great, strong-armed, QB in Carson Palmer and no type of receiving threat at all at TE.
I agree with you'ds.......no more unathletic choir boys. And I think after last years third round added to all the FO talk about getting playmakers, gettig BPA and not being force to take any one postion shows they have learned. A 6'6 TE that is probably top 5 in speed in the NFL amongst TE's.........I don't see anything wrong with adding that.
I don't know if you mean what thay implys. Are you saying Cincinnatti should take Olsen because he is a receiving threat TE? Sure sounds that way. Sounds exactly like what the Jets need too.
No, I'm suggesting that Olsen's talents match up with Palmer much more than they do with Chad. I'm also suggesting that Cincinnati would fall all over themselves to get Chris Baker if they could. They have journeymen tight ends with no redeeming value. If the Jets had a strong-armed QB to team up with Olsen I'd be a bit less hostile to the pick, although I'd still want to fix the defense before I started heavy reconstruction on the offensve side anywhere outside the line. This team gave up nearly 300 points last year with a bunch of absolute wankers on the schedule. We don't have the luxury of Oakland or Houston or Minnesota or Cleveland on the schedule this year. We're not likely to get lucky and get a free win out somebody like Kerry Collins who didn't even know his team's playbook when he took the field against us. This year we're going to have to earn double-digit wins and if the defense is as weak as last year we'll wind up 7-9. Editing to say: well we do have Cleveland but we also have the Giants (355 pts), the Bengals (373 pts), the Ravens (353 pts), The Eagles (398 pts), The Redskins (307 pts), The Steelers (353 pts) and the Titans (324 pts) on the schedule. Last season we had out of division games against 4 of the worst offenses in the league (Oakland, Houston, Cleveland and Minnesota.) This season we catch no break in that regard. Everybody but Cleveland can put points on the board and after using the 3 pick and the 35 pick Cleveland may be in that group also
There's no OL that's going to be available that matches anything remotely close to the value of the 10 pick. Willis is going to be the best value there and the most likely impact player for them. Put him next to DeMeco Ryans and Morlon Greenwood and they are set at LB for the forseeable future. They could go with Darrelle Revis or Leon Hall, but neither of those guys is likely to have the impact that Willis will.
Levi Brown is a good LT and could be available. and i agree that Willis is a better player but you cant just take the best player there and leave the rest of your team to suck. they should take the best player available int he positions they need, not just best player available.
