These guys are good and I feel in the right system each one can be a starter. The best front offense is the one that finds those mid to late draft picks that contribute right out of the gate. My Offensive Sleeper Picks : QB Jeff Rowe 6-5, 225 4.90 Nevada (Might not have the strong arm but he has the rest of the package.) Projected 6th round WR Legedu Naanee 6-2, 225 4.41 Boise State (Only one bigger and faster WR in the draft, and Johnson will go #1 overall.) - Projected 6th or 7th round RB Michael Bush 6-1, 243 4.60 Louisville (Would have been a 1st round pick last year.) - Projected 3rd round FB Cory Anderson 6-2, 247 4.70 Tennessee )A FB that doesn't mind being one, plus he can block anyone.) Projected 5th or 6th round TE Cody Boyd 6-7.5, 260 4.80 Washington State (Mammoth target that can catch and block.) Projected 6th or 7th round OT Gabe Hall 6-4, 313 4.90 Texas Tech (Great speed for a OT his size and he has the character the Jets like.) Projected 6th or 7th round OG Manny Ramirez 6-3, 326 5.20 Texas Tech (Solid guard not getting enough respect.) Projected 3rd round C Doug Datish 6-4, 302 5.13 Ohio State (One of the faster centers and can also play OG, plus comes from a top football program.) Projected 5th or 6th round RB/S/CB/WR/KR? D.D. Terry 6-0.5 199 4.41 Sam Houston State (This kid can play anywhere, with the speed every team wants.) Projected 7th round or FA * Anyone can pick possible starters in the first two rounds, but none of these guys will hear their named called that early. I would love to get both Gabe Hall & Manny Ramirez since they already know and are comfortable with each other to be the right side of out O-line.
Top three in order: 1.) WR Legedu Naanee 6-2, 225 4.41 Boise State (Fast, big and has good hands.) 2.) TE Cody Boyd 6-7.5, 260 4.80 Washington State (Huge target with good TE speed.) 3.) OG Manny Ramirez 6-3, 326 5.20 Texas Tech - (He will be a starter somewhere so why waste a 1st or 2nd round pick on a guard when we could get him in the 3rd round.)
How about WR Derek Stanley from Wisconsin-Whitewater, 5-9, 172 lbs Strengths: Has terrific timed speed...Elusive and runs well after the catch...A big play threat who will stretch the field vertically...A good leaper...Has decent hands...Was very productive...Has experience as a return man...Has lots of special teams potential
Could be drafted in the 6th round as a KR and slot receiver. He put uyp good numbers at a Div III school but lacks heighth which most teams are looking for and has not run the 40 officially since last year and has not done any tests or drills except for the vertical jump which was not outstandind at only 37 ? inches. 03/08/07 - Pro day: Former UW-Whitewater wide receiver Derek Stanley performed Wednesday and believes he could be a slot receiver and/or a return specialist. Stanley, 5-foot-10 ? and 175 pounds, recorded a vertical jump of 37 ? inches. However, he did not record a time in the 40 because of a tender hamstring. According to former Whitewater coach Bob Berezowitz, Stanley ran a 4.38 in the 40 for the New York Jets last year at Whitewater. " Legedu Naanee 6-2, 225 4.41 Boise State is as fast, at 50 lbs heavier and 3.5" taller he is a better candidate for the WR position. We already has a probowl return guy in Miller.
Of the group I like Doug Datish the most. He'll probably go in the 4th round, but could slot in higher if Kalil goes at the very beginning of Round 2.
I would also like to add Garrett Wolfe with our 6th, I lke the WR Naanee, sounds interesting, also wouldn't mind Ramirez
Would love to have Ramirez and Blalock following the draft...we really do need 2 guards in the next coupla years...but probably need to pick only 1 this year. Bush would be my other choice in that round as a possible steal.
OG Manny Ramirez is the only one that interest me... maybe bush. but out of this group manny for sure.
Jesse Allen FB- Virginia Tech 6'' 247 lbs, hard worked former walk on, great blocker could get him in the 7th or FA
ill take Ramirez, just because I think hes someone the Jets should draft at the very least...the OG position should be addressed earlier with Blalock, but just in case, Ramirez should be the absolute last fall back, he is the last talent i think we should accept at the OG position
I want to add one more to the list. Name: Laurent Robinson Position: WR School: Illinois St Height: 6'2" Weight: 199 lbs Speed: 4.38 Scouting Report: Without a doubt, Laurent is one of the best receivers not playing IA football. He has been a Walter Payton award finalist and one of the most productive receivers in IAA for the past three seasons. He has good size. Very fluid athlete. Runs with a smooth, gliding style that deceives D-backs. Can snatch the ball in traffic. Capable of the highlight grab. Great production at this level. Tough and fearless. A guy with his hands and production deserves to be a 7th rounder at worst, but you never know how the NFL will react to the level of competition issue. Smart, instinctive runner and also does well in the classroom...Picks up plays quickly and is alert to coverages, doing a nice job of finding the soft spot in the zone to settle in...Regarded by the staff the team's "most trustworthy" player, as he works hard in the training and film rooms, showing good self-starting ability. Compares to LAVERANUES COLES-New York Jets-Like Coles, Robinson has that explosive running stride and acceleration to separate after the catch. Both are fearless catching in a crowd and show great sideline awareness, body control and loose hips to turn a short catch into a big play.
Why dont u have troy smith there, if we would be able to get an early 4th round pick we could get him. I mean he won the heisman last year, and were not gonna take him cuz he is 5 10. Come on i see some real talent in this guy
His problem is he wants to play QB and he does not have the tallent Flutie had but he does have the stature. He played on a great team but he is far from great himself. Just one of many QBs to win the trophy due to being surrounded by talent in college.
02/27/07 - NFL COMBINE: Robinson distinguished himself in Sunday's workouts, first by wearing what appeared to be his "lucky" Redbirds shorts, making him the only receiver in red. Then he turned in a 40 time of 4.38 seconds, particularly notable for a tall (6-2) wide receiver weighing 195 pounds. Robinson did not drop a pass in his workout session and repeatedly had to field balls thrown behind him by quarterbacks?including Ohio State's Troy Smith?who were clearly surprised by the speed of the big receiver. - John Mullin, Chicago Tribune http://www.nfldraftscout.com/ratings/profile.php?pyid=20948 I like the kid, but he is ranked side-by-side with Legedu Naanee and I feel Naanee has the edge since he is heavier and was a QB in college before switching to WR. He is a team player and will do whatever it takes to get on the field. A character player.
I'm a big fan of Bush. Without his injury I think he would have been a mid to late first rounder. I really think he will bounce back from it and be a great pick at one of our late second round picks.
id rather take Laron Mcclain in the 5th. hes a proven commodity and the best pure blocking FB to come out in a long time.
who cares...McClain is a blocking and receiving back, something that would be better suited for the Jets offense..lets not forget how reliant the Jets are on those PA dump offs to the FB in the flat...Sowell and Anderson made that play what it is...useful to pick up chunks of yards...i wouldnt trust a "blocking back" to take on that duty
Manny Supposedly Ramirez had a private workout for the Texans and the fish.. The workout was to clear up questions on his mobility.. He played since his Jr. year with a misdiagnosed knee injury.. He was playing on a bad patella tendon, and had surgery after Senior Bowl.. He impressed at senior bowl practices, etc. playing on one leg basically. At the combines he proved to be one of the strongest offensive linemen( 40) reps. He is tough, a team leader, plays hurt and a road grader. A road grader who played four years in a pass oriented offense. The Tech offense plays with extremely wide ol splits and he always did a great job getting to his blocks. Would love to see him go to the Jets. Ramirez and Mangold in the middle would certainly help our push in the middle. I was hoping I would read that he was brought in for an interview... Gabe Hall used to be a tight end, big enough and is quick. He needs to get stronger. Good 6 or 7 round pick Again did alot of pass protection at Tech.
