Don't have Insider but saw this report last night. Faneca is trying to force his way out...would you trade the 25 for this Pro Bowl Guard?

No. He's 31 years old and has 9 years in the league already. What you might be getting out of that pick is a pro bowl guard for 4 years and then a decent guard for 2 more. Your first round picks need to be players who will be at the core of your team for longer than that. Faneca could also get old in a hurry and have 2 more pro bowls and 2 years after that.

Plus, we'd have to pay him a crapload of money, which then makes Kendall (a stand up guy) unhappy and I think Faneca is somewhat of a lockerroom lawyer, a la Mawae.

Never give up a first round pick for any player. Very few exceptions. Manning comes to mind as one.:breakdance:

Just to add to that, I'll bet no team would give up a first right now for Reggie Bush or Young despite what they did their first year.

He's a finesse guard that plays on the left side of the line. What we need is the road grader on the right side.

Blalock and his 41 reps on the bench come to mind....

Absolutely not. Blalock has the potential to be everything that Faneca was and more, and we can get about 8 more years out of this Texas alum than a 31 year old dramaqueen. Take a Blalock at 25, hope a decent CB falls into our laps at 59.

I agree...just asking! I guess I'm a little concerned that the Jets won't address the Guard position in a meaningful way.

Saturday evening can't come soon enough.

That's a great way to look at it, and if the CS feels we need an OG of that caliber, then I couldn't agree with you more...and he'll be cheaper.

No way, he is a great talent but I doubt the steelers will let one of the top 3 guys at his position walk. Use the Draft and go with Mansfield Wrotto out of Georgia Tech yeaaaa.

  12. I have the same fear. We have been reluctant to fill the position in the draft in any serious way in a long time. Dave Yovanovits is the last player we drafted at the spot. Scary.

His last name is too close to Francesa's. I rule him out on that reason alone.

Go for a LB or CB in round one and take Ramirez with second pick in second round.

Blalock and Ramirez very similar players.

You are definitly wrong with that one. There are definitly many teams in this league who would give up their first round pick for Young or Bush. Why wouldn't you? That makes no sense after we saw both of these guys succeed at the next level. There is no player in this draft (except for Calvin Johnson) that has the same playmaker abillity as Young or Bush.

Faneca IS OBVIOUSLY trying to get to Arizona. He's upset about Russ Grimm not getting the job(if you read about the alleged circumstances behind it, you might be upset too).

Faneca and Joe Thomas would be a coup for a team trying to upgrade their line.

Would anyone be happy at taking an LB with the #25 spot then trading our two #2's to move up in the early second round to get Blalock?
