...Kenyatta Wright? I would be really dissappointed if we lose this guy. He is an outstanding ST player. He is a beast and leaves it all out on the field. I don't think I have ever seen him in a play where he was not going full throttle. Whenever I watch a ST team play, I wait for him to come flying down the field as a gunner and spearing a guy so hard his head snaps back like a ragdoll. He seems like the type of player the new FO is looking for, solid role-player. So has anyone heard anything? Any rumors or articles? I have not read anything, but maybe I missed it. Thanks.
True, you can't have enough Kenyatta's on your team. But with Chatham there, I don't know. And also Darrell McClover is a very good ST linebacker if he can come back healthy. Plus he's a product of the U.
Agree it would be good to keep him, but is Chatham not an adequate replacement? Also, while we're at it, has anyone heard status of: -James Reed -Chris Baker
Here's to James Reed and gaunaria (spelling - and yeah I'm a Jerk once in a while) cus I don't want him in a Jets Uni... I do however hope we sign Baker back to a deal... Ellis
Agree, won't lose much sleep if we lose Reed, but he did have something like 30 more tackles than Sean Ellis last year and more tackles for loss than Ellis.
If they truly are switching to a 3-4, then there would be plenty of LB roster spots. McClover is still on the team. Catham basically took over the spot of Gardner when he was released. So I don't think he would be replacing anyone. If the FO wanted him, they could re-sign Wright. I hope they do. He was one of the best finds of the Bradway/Herm era.
McClover is way to small for a 3-4 LB, however maybe they'll try to convert him to a SS in the 3-4, he has the frame for it, and has great speed, however I don't know how well he could do that (though at least in the 3-4 the SS is usually near the line in run support...ala Harrison in NE)
Reed absolutely sucked last year.... yeah, he padded his stats because he played outside the scheme.... he was a slant nose, but played like a 3T, which led to the fistfight between him and Vilma. Because of Reed, Vilma was fighting off blocks he wasn't supposed to, and Ellis got more double teams than HE was supposed to. Reed was one of Mangini's first cuts.... and no one has been breaking down any doors to sign him.
