Got thinking about next season and went back to the FA signings. I'm hoping that TJ is going to be the best FA signing in the NFL. With Leon also sharing the load I wonder how many yards hes going to get.
I am hoping for right around 1500, and I think it is attainable depending on the draft, whether it be Blalock and?or a burner reciever to keep the D honest
i said 900-1200 leaning to about 1100 because i think leon will get a decent amount of carries and gain around 500 to 600 yards
900-1200. The Jets are going to use him 15 carries a game and give nearly the same to Washington is my guess.
1200-1500 is too broad......I think he will get around 1200 or 1300.......but def not as high as 1500.......leon will get a lot of his time
You are all talking about the same Jets offensive line that couldn't get any push at all last year, right? Where are all these yards going to come from?
At the moment the Jets starting 5 on the line is the same for the first time since 2000-2001. Ferguson and Mangold have their feet on the ground now and understand the system from the get-go. There's a good chance the Jets will take a first day guard to replace Moore or Kendall. Thomas Jones is a much better rusher than anybody the Jets had on their roster on opening day last season, replacing Derrick Blaylock (OMG) as the back who will likely get the first carry for the Jets this season. I just can't see anything but upwards momentum for the Jets in the rushing game between all of the above factors. Oh yeah, the Jets probably have the NFL's best second back in Leon Washington.
The first number that came into my head when I saw the thread title was 1300, so I voted 1200-1500. But since I know I tend to be overly optimistic, I will factor that in and predict 1299  In response to Don, I don't think it will be the same offensive line (I think they're drafting OL early). If I'm wrong, and it is the same, I would argue the year of experience together should help (albeit the "push" you mention is not likely to be improved by the continuity of personnel...although youngsters getting stronger could!).
I voted 12-1500 but after reading the comments, its probably lower. Leon will be getting carries this year, so TJ may not have a huge year.
i say TJ goes for about 1,104 yards and leon goes for 1,021 becasue they will pretty much get equeal carries
I think that due to his blocking skills, he will have a large majority of carries because they'll need him on the field more to set up the pass, but he's still going to be part of a platoon of backs. Leon is going to get his fair share, and Lil Schott loves to run whether it's working or not. However, the line is still going through growing pains and I think the right side is going to see some changes through the first half of the season... 900-1200.
....he wasnt a FA, but to not be an a**hole...i know what you meant i can see him getting between 1000-1200 and leon getting between 400-600
That's how I feel as well - somewhere around 1247 with 6 TDs. Probably 30 catches for 240 yards and 2 TDs as well. Which to me equates to a nice 2nd round fantasy pick probably gettable in the fourth (sweet).
1000-950 TJ-LW. Hopefully we won't have the same OLine as this season. Sharing carries = similar yardage.
W/ leon getting his share of carries I don't think well see a huge season yardage wise out of Jones. I would say somewhere around 1,000-1,100 yards.
