The Falcons are worried about losing their back-up quarteback. Why not throw Bollinger into the trade deal. Of course he is not as good as Shaub..but he is a lot closer to the style of play of Vick. The Falcons would then be more more able to customize their offense to a scrambling style QB. What they've been doing doesn't make sense, Mike Vick will never properly run a West Coast style offense. Plus Bollinger lessens the potential of a QB controversy than if Shaub stays. The Jets could then draft a QB for the third roster spot that has the potential to develop into a starter or at least a solid number 2; perhaps Croyle. With Bollinger thrown in the Jets would also be able to get a higher draft pick out of the Falcons.
I think we should accept we're not getting Schaub. If the Falcons won't take Abraham straight up for him and won't give up their No. 1 pick, I wouldn't mess with it. We need that high draft pick.
Did you watch any games that Bollinger started last season. I think throwing in Bolly makes the deal worse.
You're insane if you think the Jets would trade Abe for Schaub straight up. The talk has been Abe for Schaub and a 2nd round pick.
That was never the trade. It was Shaub and a draft pick for Abe. It has been reported that the falcons really don't want give up Shaub. If they do finally give in they won't give up a second round pick...they might however do it if Bollinger is thrown in. Abe is probably worth a late 1st Bolloinger maybe a 5th..Shaub would be considered at least a high second. So it would be like giving a late first and fifth for 2 seconds. This without even taking into account getting rid of Abe's enormous cap hit!
Pretty good reasoning - seems to me. Since I never want to see Bollinger play for the Jets again, I'm for it.
I understand the thought, but I don't think Bollinger has earned that much respect around the league. Although, he did show some flashes last year, IMO he will always be a 2/3 guy (but I have surely been wrong before)...
i think your completely right.....i do think the guy is a solid player though. but i think he has solidified himself as a career backup after last yrs debacle. i wish him the best for whatever happens in the future but you just wont hear his name.
I thought about this as well, but they would probably be best served by drafting Marcus Vick in the 6th or 7th, and let him back up his brother.. Styles arent going to get much closer to that and I would think he would come pretty cheap.
Wow, that just sounds like a recipe for disaster. Michael and Marcus on the same team would probably at least make some great off the field headline stories.... hmy:
Yeah, they are both media darlings/disasters, but hey if big brother cant get him in line and help him realize a hair of his potential, who can? Maybe nobody, and he just drives Mike around for a few years, but if I am in ATL, I would really consider this. Imagine if they push each other to play better, and there is a QB controversy, what a family affair.
