CB is a need for us(amongst others) and its possible we might take a corner in the 1st. My question is: Have there been many rookie CBs who made an immediate impact? I can only think of 2 off the top of my head who were great from year 1, Champ Bailey and Charles Woodson. Dunta Robinson had a good rookie campaign also, but no where near Champ and Woodson. Are there any others?

  2. Deangelo Hall, Nate Clements, and Ty Law come to mind.

From what I've seen, there is no CB that is worth a 1st round selection.

Deion Sanders. Selected #5 and would have been a great #1 pick.

Lito Shepard, not in year 1, but is a great RD 1 corner from 2002. Where a Mike Rumph a few picks from Shepard was a total bust. Drafting a CB in late Rd1 is a crapshoot....probably a 50/50 chance of becoming an outstanding player. Doesn't Blalock seem more of a a surething in Rd 1??

There are so many 1st round busts at CB. I'd rather take an OLB or NT round 1.

Well let's do it this way...

    2006
-15 St. Louis Tye Hill CB: Started some as a rookie, played solid
-19 San Diego Antonio Cromartie CB Florida State : Played nickel as a rookie, looks solid and should start this year.
-24 Cincinnati Johnathan Joseph CB South Carolina: Played well and is supposed to be Cincy's #1 CB next season
-31 Seattle Kelly Jennings CB Miami: Played a bit last season and solidly from what I gathered...

    2005
-6 Tennessee Adam Jones CB West Virginia: Played very well ON the field...
-8 Arizona Antrel Rolle CB Miami: Battled injuries but was solid when he was on the field.
-9 Washington Carlos Rogers CB Auburn: Played better as a rookie than in 2006
-23 Oakland Fabian Washington CB Nebraska: Played solid and was a part of the Raiders' surprisingly good defense...
    - 29 Indianapolis Marlin Jackson CB Michigan: Played well at safety and cornerback...

Over the last two years, most of these guys played solid/well as rookies, but didn't have Pro Bowl seasons... If the right guy is there at #25, Revis, than we should take him. Otherwise, I like Josh Wilson in the 2nd round.

Nothing is a sure thing, but Blalock is a perfect fit for us... Versatile and played Guard and Tackle, both needs for us... Started 4 seasons at a big program... Is a very powerful run blocker...

    He's the guy I want at #25.

not many, i remember terrance newman getting beat a lot his rookie season but hes a damn good CB now. Makes more sense to wait til the 2nd this year to draft one IMO

i agree. i see three main reasons why we should wait until after R1:

    1) Mangini's track record of transforming average/decent CB's into strong, solid players.
    2) Mangini's willingness to shuffle the CB rotation based on performance, matchups, etc.
    3) improvement of the Front 7 (stopping the run and generating more pressure) will allow for good (not great) CB's to succeed. Good (not great) CB's can be found after R1.

i mean, i'd be okay with taking Revis if they think he's something special. but i don't think it's completely necessary to pull the trigger prematurely on a CB in R1.

    cheers

We need a CB with speed, brains and a great work ethic, this rules out Aaron Ross, give me Wilson he gives us all the important parts for a Mangini CB

Dunta Robinson was a heck of a good rookie CB. So was Shawntee Spencer.

I know it isn't a popular pick, but Brady really picked our CB's apart with both Dyson and Barrett hurting in that playoff game. Miller has the tools and talent, but frankly I think he's 4 short of a six pack upstairs. Poteat has to play off the WR, or he gets burned, Coleman may have the same problem. We really don't have a shut down corner .... I'd like to get one, meself!

CB has to be addressed. The CB besides Dyson were not very good. Being they havent done it in FA they would have to draft a CB in Rd 1.

Arron Glenn made an impact in his rookie year. I think he fumbled 5 or 6 punts and kickoffs. Good hands that boy, good hands.
