What do you guys think about opening up at home with Belichick and the Pats? I love it. Can't wait for the hype to begin.
No way. Really? I'd have figured the powers that be to make that a mid season game with the Foxboro game like week 14 or 15. What do I think? I think Belichik is going to have to work overtime to come up with some new accusations to quietly spew into backchannels before the game. Training camp isn't really enough time for him to try to pin something new on Mangini.
It's the perfect game. The 2 best teams in the AFC East meet in round one on opening day in New York. I don't think it can get much better then that.
Agreed. Not that it interests you guys but New england then gets San Diego at home in week 2. They must want NE just just get the grudge matches out of the way. I can't wait for the season already.
Well, yeah, but then again if we go 2-0 we've got the Pats in a hole right off the bat. Not saying that's going to happen but it's a better chance for the Jets than not playing the Pats until week 5 or 6.
Jets 41 - Pats 3 Seriously it's too early for predictions, but this will be HUGE game. I'm shocked that the nfl set this one up.
BTW, this is a gift from the NFL to the Jets. There's nobody in the league who is better with film than Belichik and he isn't going to have very much to work with coming out of preseason.
We get to see how good our team is starting on the first snap. We will find out if Chad is the savior the board thinks he his from game 1. Two Super bowl caliber teams to see if we should trust Chad or start grooming Clemens. I love it!
That's an excellent point. If Chad does the deer in the headlights look the first couple of games it gives us an easy game to put Clemens in. Also the Patriots, the Ravens and the Dolphins are 3 of the hard-chargingest defenses the Jets face next season. So if Chad is gonna get knocked out it'll likely happen early.
I think it's a disaster. They will have a new defense built around Thomas and a new offense to take advantage of Stallworth. Nobody will have seen either.
There's no team in the NFL that profits from a film swap with Belichik. Playing with blinders on can only benefit the underdog in this situation and at the moment that's the Jets. Think of it this way, there are realistically two results that can happen in that game: 1. The Patriots beat the Jets and everybody yawns and writes the same old "Jets not there yet" stories. 2. The Jets beat the Patriots and the NFL world explodes for a week as somebody finally is ahead of the Pats in the division race for the first time since 2002. Is #1 more likely to happen than #2? I don't know. But I do know that #2 is a more impactful result than #1 and there's going to be more pressure on the Pats going into that game than on the Jets.
