As some of you probably know, FITM & I started a Jets Blog called www.JetsCentral.com. I recently contacted Scott Wright of NFLDraftCountdown and he agreed to an interview about the upcoming draft and what he thinks that the Jets will do. So, if you have any questions you would like us to ask, please post them here, and we will narrow it down to the best questions for our interview. Thanks, - dwalsh
Are you buying into the Kiper-started drop of Alan Branch? Kiper recently dropped Branch out of his top 25. A lot of people are comparing Branch's fall to the pre-draft fall of fellow Wolverine Gabe Watson last year. It seems suspect with that with the amount of teams in need of a NT that Branch would fall so fall.
The Jets have added alot of defensive players for the front 7 this offseason. OLB David Bowens, OLB Andre Wadsworth, DE Michael Haynes, DE Kenyon Coleman. In my opinion this makes it seem like a lock that the Jets are not counting on DL or LB in RD 1. Three posiotions they need most... OG, CB and TE. Which do you think the Jets will wind up drafting and who do you think they will take? I think it is CB Aaron Ross.
ask him about tanard jackson, and how he fits with the jets. and his character concerns. the only thing i remember is him getting stabbed. i would like an in-depth analysis on his character.
Ask him where he sees the sharpest drop in talent between first and second tier players, specifically with CBs - how big a drop is it from Darelle Revis/Leon Hall/Chris Houston to Daymeion Hughes/Josh Wilson/AJ Davis.
Quantity does not translate into quality. I can almost guarantee that out of Wadsworth, Haynes, Hamilton, Kimo, Mosely, Moore, etc. someone will be cut. The depth chart is ostensibly complete. Also..For some reason everyone thinks just because we signed Bowens we aren't going OLB anymore. First of all Bowens is more of a situational pass rusher and will not play every down. I think the signing points to the eventual departure of Eric Barton. To successfully employ the 3-4 we need big, fast & versatile LB's (Sorry Schlegel). And besides someone made a great point before stating the Jets signed Trey Teague last year to play center and we still drafted Mangold so never say never. I still think the Jets draft Anthony Spencer in round one. If they don't then it will either be Woodley or Crowder in round 2.
Ask him if the Jets have interest in any of the top WR's in the first round, and if so, who makes the most sense for the Jets
Maybe his opinion on Mike Walker, his knee injury in 05, and where[round and/or team] he thinks hes going to go. FYI, the talk here is either San Diego, Cincy, or Indy
1. How kickass is Mike Walker? Amirite? Worded differently, that question is totally serious. The guys going to be a player in the NFL. 2. Zack DeOssie and Jyles Tucker are two of the tweener DE/OLBs that have been talked about recently. Are they rising up draft boards? If so, where do you think they'll go? Who do you think is more athletic of the two? Who is the better pass rusher? 3. Why aren't people talked about Tala Esera more? A little coaching and this guy could be a beast at guard. 4. Who do you think will make the best 3-4 end in this class? And of the two Miami U guys with 3-4 end size (Brown and Atkins), who do you think fits the bill better? 5. Is there a Micheal Turner-esque guy in this draft? Aare Kolby Smith, DeShawn Wynn, or Chris Henry even close to him as far as speed, motor, strength, and explosiveness?
Why has Lamar Woodley dropped from a sure-fire first round pick to a second round pick considering his college production and good (if not solid) workouts? Would the Jets have interest in the second?
He already has the Jets taking him in the second: http://www.nfldraftcountdown.com/sub/mockround2.html
Really good question. I think alot of it has to do with Woodley's height. He's a pure 3-4 OLB, and if you look at the best 3-4 OLBs in this league they're all at least 6'3. Hell, theres still a part of me that doesn't like him for us.
Potential sleepers in the first round is there a 1st rounder we have not accounted for making it in that round and who will be the Matt Lienhart and Donte Whitner of the 07' draft.
