KANSAS CITY, MISSOURI (TICKER) -- The Kansas City Chiefs filled their void at strong safety Thursday, signing Jon McGraw to a two-year contract.

    Financial terms were not disclosed.

The Chiefs had been in the market for help at strong safety after releasing veteran Sammy Knight earlier this offseason.

McGraw, who turns 28 years old Monday, registered a career-high 33 tackles in 16 games for Detroit last season.

Entering his sixth season, McGraw spent his first three campaigns with the New York Jets before playing his last two with Detroit. The 6-3, 206-pounder has collected 173 tackles and three interceptions in 57 career games.

The funny thing about this is the careful use of "a career-high 33 tackles", when he averaged almost one tackle per game less than his career average. The reason, of course, is that he never came close to 16 games in a season before. He stayed healthy last year, but that's about all you can say.

I'm sooooo glad Herm is no longer our problem. I'm surprised his dismantling of one of the best offenses in the league hasn't been talked about more. It only took him one year to ruin a high-powered offense and take 2 seasons off of Larry Johnson's career. He's such a piece of sh*t!
