"I like most of the offseason moves. the only one thats puzzling is the decision not to resign david bowens. he has played pretty well on the defensive line rotation. plus he plays special teams and isn't real expensive. seems a lot like y. bell an underrated player at a bargain price. your thoughts?" matt, ocean city maryland 3/24/07 A: I'm a big D-Bo fan, as well. However, I understand the team would certainly like to get a bit younger along the defensive line, meaning they're trying to save those reserve spots on the roster for draft picks and newer guys. That's not to say they might not eventually sign the guy, since he's still on the open market. But it doesn't look like that will be the case thus far. I spoke to Bowens' agent Monday, and he said there were some deals being talked about with other teams (he wouldn't mention which ones), but nothing new had happened with the Dolphins. I'd imagine the Jets are one of the teams looking at his services, since he's already visited with them since free agency started.
I wanted Bowens right from the start of FA. He will fit in nicely in the OLB rotation. If we draft one more edge-rusher we will have a LETHAL rotation at OLB.
Hehe, I was lurking HomerDepot last night and saw that thread, I was surprised by the lack of dismissive comments about Bowens.
I wonder how much input Dan Quinn had on this signing. I am looking forward to seeing how much DQ can do with this group. He is regarded as being one of the better young coaches in the league, he will fit the staff perfectly.
