Get Schwaub and draft AJ Hawk to play in the 3-4. Draft OL with the two second rounders (one from Atlanta), RB in the third.
Actually thats what I think they intended all along. I think the whole cutler thing and what not is all a smoke screen. By switching to the 3-4 we need linbackers that can move and I think it has been this organizations intention all along to get AJ. personally I think they just keep yacking it up about which QB to chose so no one suspects us really wanting AJ this way they dont have to worry about anyone trying to move ahead to get him.
You know the more and more I think of the Jets going to the 3-4 that A.J Hawk just might be a good pick in the draft. Just imagine him and Vilma running all over the field hitting anything that moves. Kinda gives me chills just thinking of it right now. Then with the rest of our picks take nothing but OL unless someone really special drops into our lap. Go Jets
could you imagine a line up something like ellis and Drob at ends maybe sam adams or some such hulk of a beast at dt ( maybe give Pohua a shot.hhmmm did I spell that right?) and having AJ, Barton, Hobson , and Vlima at LB's
I hope so because that man is a beast. With barton and hobson blitzing and hawk and vilma runing around making plays our D would be amazing
I like that too, but can someone explain to me why you guys are thinking that Drob would be a good 3-4 end? I would like to see that he gains some weight in the Offseason (about 15 pounds) and play NT
I would be very happy with that outcome. NT is my only concern, need a big block eater and I have doubts about Drob. Haloti Ngata would be worth a long look, but if we can find a fat FA, Vilma and Hawk would be unreal.
He cant play end. You are correct in your thinking  Also, with the signing of Kimo, why would we even CONSIDER him at end? But I think DRob is fine at the weight he is, hes about the size of any other NT
D-Rob has an arthritic knee. The more weight he puts on the worse it is. That's why he was supposed to play they year at 305, but was listed at 317 (and was probably more) due to Club Med training last year.
Hawk & Vilma would make A sick combo. But unless our defense scores 21 points a game then we're going to be drafting #4 again next year. We need to focus on offense (if not through the draft then through free agency). Watching our offense with the ball last year was torture. Oh another 3 and out, great. At least we got a sick punter in Graham. If we get a QB through Free Agency I would love to draft AJ or D'brick with #4. Then we can use our 2nd rd. pick on an Addai or a Maurice Drew.
If we did get Hawk, our D would mostly be set for a few years... And I wouldnt mind drafting 4th again next year... Brady Quinn anyone? Brian Brohm?
LB Corps: Hobson-Vilma-Hawk-Barton DL: Von Oelhoffen-DRob-Ellis If we get McGinest LB Corps: McGinest-Vilma-Hawk-Barton DL: Von Oelhoffen-DRob-Ellis If we dont draft Hawk LB Corps: Hobson-Vilma-Barton-Chatham DL: Von Oelhoffen-DRob-Ellis
I wouldn't be upset with him as long as we went O-line o line oline the rest of the next two or 3 rounds.
If we do draft Hawk, then Hobson is going to be there for depth. Our greatest need now since Robertson is going to be manning the nose, is an efficient rush backer. Barton can play outside, but that doesn't mean he'll be our rush backer. He'll often play on the tightend side, atleast I'm assuming. Hobson can play SILB, but he's too slow to be a rush backer. Trade down and take Manny Lawson.
Though I don't care for A.J. Hawk...He is a good, if not very good tough football player. He would help upgrade the defense alot....IMO:up:
For the longest time I didn't like the idea of drafting Hawk. But now I am starting to believe he may be the way to go. Its eerie how his draft evaluations are nearly identical to J. Vilma's... http://football.about.com/cs/playerprofiles/p/jonathanvilma.htm http://www.nfldraftcountdown.com/scoutingreports/olb/ajhawk.html
