DISCLAIMER: this is a QUESTION, not an endorsement! OK, most agree we need a BIG body in the middle of the DL, and as I remember, this guy was a BIG body. Of course, he was also continually hurt, etc. Does anybody think this guy may be able to contribute? Obviously we haven't seen much game action to draw from, but has anybody seen him in past TC's? Or heard any rumors of him in the off-season training program? Mentions from Mangini? Anything??? Or was he just a BIG waste of a pick?
This guy will get the positive media spin until he is cut or traded. The FO/CS would be foolish to do otherwise since they may be able get something for him down the road. B_ST Pat can I buy a vowel ... I'll take a U please.
[QUOTEOK, the clue is "People who annoy you" ... ][/QUOTE] J_R_MY SHOCK_Y Pat i'd like to buy an E. PS ... the best South Park scene ever ... maybe the funniest moment in TV history.
I think we as originally 335 in his rookie year. He reported to camp this year at about 310, about the same size as Robertson with less talent. Doubt he will be an answer, but maybe part of the rotation if things go well for him.
I don't think "continually hurt" is fair: he busted his acl. And, before that happened, he was getting a lot of praise. If I remember correctly, rookie year he had an endurance problem. So, we'll see. I think the best we can say is: we can't depend on him to be the answer, but he will certainly be in our plans for NT this year.
You're going to see more and more of that since there is a dearth of quality nose tackles available for the 3-4. The Jets needed a plugger at the time. I think he's going to contribute. I think he did make strides last year and it's a matter of his commitment, but I think he's a guy they'll like. -X-
there is no body of work. no one can logically predict anything for him. lots of big, slow, fat guys around. very few can actually play.
At 27 his chances of ever developing into a top of the line D player are quite remote. Also, I think he has been cut in past years & then resigned before the injuries struck him.
don't forget about that Tui fellow. I completely forget how to spell his last name, but people were very high on him last year during Training Camp before hurting his knee
Don't think he has been cut. He was a late entry to the draft and played sparingly in his first year before getting hurt in his second TC. Pretty sure he's been on the roster since he was drafted though.
yea he really made strides by spending the entire year on the IR. reamed out this pick from the getgo.
Him reporting at 310 is a great sign. You don't need to be 330+ to be a solid nose - you just need a wide base and great strength(see Jason Ferguson). If I remember correctly, Sione was considered an extremely strong fellow and if he is now lighter (presumably because he is in better shape) injuries should be less of a concern.
