COLUMNISTS PUBLISHED: 03-12-07 2:00 AM EST Bubble bursts on 'Purdue is out' forecast Ken Thompson ~ ~ ~ Moving up Anthony Spencer could be hearing the chant "J-E-T-S, Jets, Jets, Jets" on draft day, according to the latest mock draft from John Murphy of Yahoo! Sports. "The Jets have addressed their backfield situation (Thomas Jones), so ... the primary need area for them is finding a front-seven playmaker. As they initially indicated an interest in acquiring the services of Adalius Thomas, the pass rusher comes before the run stuffer. Spencer has ideal speed and athleticism to be this year's version of the new 'hybrid'-scheme pass rusher. His versatility as a defender also will excite head coach Eric Mangini." Spencer's not dropping to the 25. He's going to go 15 to 21 somewhere between Pittsburgh and Denver. He might even move up a couple of slots if Carriker goes earlier than expected.
The highest I have ever seen Anthony Spencer is 21. Most of the mocks have him at 29 or second round. He will be there at 25 in fact many mocks have us taking him.
who's on the other side of Adalius Thomas? i can see the Pats taking him too. i'd be very happy if Spencer is there and we take him. but if he goes early, oh well. it seems everyone we're interested in is going earlier than our pick; which means that someone talented is going to fall to us. cheers
Just our luck the friggin patriots will draft him at 24 just before we can. I hope we get this guy as he can be that hybrid player we need.
Is he even eligibile? I know he meets the 3 year eligibility rule but he is a junior and did not petition the NFL to give up his remaining year of eligibility. http://www.nfl.com/news/story/9941574 Am I missing something?
LaRon Harris He only played in 6 of their 10 games last year and recorded 8 tackles and 1/2 a sack. This against lower quality competition.
