Ranking the RBs How six big-time backs will fare in new homes Posted: Thursday March 8, 2007 4:12PM; Updated: Thursday March 8, 2007 4:12PM The Jets swapped second-round picks with the Bears to acquire running back Thomas Jones. New running backs are all the rage in the NFL this month. Here's how I rank the half-dozen moves that have landed some familiar faces in new places for the upcoming season: 1. Thomas Jones, Jets -- I still can't quite fathom how the Jets got themselves a proven 1,200-yard rusher -- and a guy who runs hard at all times -- at the cost of just swapping places in the second round with Chicago? Jones has gained just under 3,500 yards rushing in his past three seasons, with 22 touchdowns, 118 receptions and just four lost fumbles. He's only 28, very durable, and despite being a seven-year veteran, he doesn't have a ton of wear and tear on him. He didn't even have so much as a 200-rush season until his fifth year in the league, his first in Chicago. > http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2007/writers/don_banks/03/08/rating.rbs/index.html
Do we need a Jones thread for every single time his name is mentioned or someone has a thought about him? We all get it, he's good and he's nice. We got a great deal for him.
yes, if you don't like it, you shouldn't be on a Jets fan forum. This is offseason, so go visit a Lost website if you don't crave every little bit of info we can get over the next 6 months.:breakdance:
Dude, this isn't info. It's some fatass reporters high opinion that everyone and their mother shares. Repeat: OMG, some reporter said we did a good job!! is not info.
You couldnt possibly be a Jets fan. You could not possibly have lived through all the agony Jets fans have gone through throughout the years. Because if you had you would understand how good this feels to make, at least on paper, a very smart trade. And yes, every little piece of information should be put into a new thread because thats just how good the deal was.
I love reading articles about how great of a deal it was..reminds me when my mom used to say what a smart boy little Jay was when he got an A...June 22nd, 1972...perhaps his one and only. Cant really u nderstand why this would bother anyone. Besides the ~~~~'s, its still good reading.
I love it when I hear about a reporter saying anything about the team that's even remotely positive, and even moreso when the report makes us look better than another team. Why? It never happens.
Wow...I love that. I'm not a fan because I'm annoyed at the 10,000,000 threads going into Thomas Jones? Why not just create one monster thread? Theres a Thomas Jones jersey thread. A few reporters opinions threadS. The original trade threat. A fan poll on the trade thread. A couple I love this trade! threads. A THIS IS THE BEST MOVE IN JET HISTORY thread. Whats the point of all this? Why not just put it all in one thread? And again: This is NOT INFO. This is one mans opinion, which happens to be EVERYONES opinion on this trade. And I would pass the thread up, unfortunately about 95% of the Jets talk is the Jones thread. Nothing about the RFA possibilities, and draft talk is in the post-combine pre-April mode (it's talked about, but not a whole lot of the same thing).
...I'd think cause it's a little bit more logical than having 10 or so Jones threads on the first two pages. But thats just me.
I'd think it's more logical to accept the obvious excitement instead of whining about something so trivial as multiple threads pertaining to the same thing, but not ACTUALLY being the same article. But whatever, keep complaining about nothing.
Me Either. On face value this is incredible to say the least. Wheres Champ with his bucket of cold water? ............and yes this is a valuable thread, thanks Kelly.
So again: Considering the Jones acquisition is so huge...why not give it one huge thread? It's not like that would stop the article posting or anything like that. All the seperate threads and articles say the same thing over and over anyway... Forget it: arguing this is more annoying than the threads. Keep 'em coming. Maybe tommorrow we can hear about how good of a trade this was.
This is a message board, it is meant for opinion. Draft talk? There is a draft forum for that. As far as this thread goes, it is highly relevant to this particular forum.
People seem to love jumping on Kelly for whatever it posts. I like most of the articles myself. It's something too read that I don't have to go and dig for myself. Half the reason I come here is too see articles posted on the forums. The other half is to hear Jets fans opinions on all things Jets. If we were limited to one thread per trade/aquisition/rumor, there'd be about 10 threads in the Jets forum.
Could it be that you're upset that the Jets didn't go after Turner? Funny, but I don't recall you being upset about the 8,000 different pro Turner threads that were being posted not too long ago. Would you be complaining if the Jets signed Turner and the resulting 10,000 threads? It's a message board!! I agree with the others, enjoy it while you can. A pro Jets article where everyone is saying the Jets did a great job and came out on top is very rare indeed.
Im new to this board, have been scoping it out for a long time and have learned alot from all of you. As for all these TJ threads, shit man, I was born January 12th 1969 and have agonized all these years through ups and downs. The TJ aquisition marks another turning point in this franchise and sorry if a thread regarding probably the main piece to our SB quest annoys, but IMO someone if I knew wha I was talkin about Id start another friggin TJ thread. it's time for Jet fans to take pride and talk as much shit as we want. Our time is comin! All you people that pump out worthwhile posts keep doin it cuz Im spongin all yer kuh-nowledge!!!!!
