So, we now have Kenyon Coleman and Bobby Hamilton, so DE is filled. I would still like to see David Bowens signed as a Hybrid DE/LB.

Now what do we turn to? Here are the best FA's by position of need left:

NT: Robaire Smith, Michael Myers, Keith Traylor (I'd go with his 17 years as a gap stop) no one stand out here...

LB: DD Lewis, Shawn Barber, Brandon Short, Monty Beisel, Randall Godfrey, Kawika Mitchell...any of these guys could fill in, (especially if we trade Vilma?). I like Barber and Lewis...

CB: not much left - maybe Nick Harper?

FB: Cory schlesinger, Daimon Shelton not much here

TE: slim - Reggie Kelly is available

OT: Mike Gandy, Todd Wade, Marc Columbo (Gandy is the best run blocker, Columbo better all around - maybe we should resign Clement?)

OG: Porkchop Womack, Cosey Coleman (are either an upgrade?)

OLB: If we do move Vilma and Hobson goes inside - Donnie Edwards, Cato June

Donnie Edwards is an ILB and if Vilma is moved I would love to see him brought in if they would want to keep Hobson on the outside.

Nugent, if Vilma goes from the Middle, and (as I posted) Edwards plays OLB, then who replaces Vilma inside???

I'm hoping we adress oline somehow still. Colombo would be preferred, or even bringing Clement back would be nice. I still don't understand why we let him go he played above expectations.

I'd like to take care of the RT hole before the draft so we can focus on the NT and OLB upgrades when the draft does come.

I would not be surprised if we bring Clement back.

what about moving vilma? you mean from the inside, not the team right....

i would like to see donnie edwards come in, but he would warrent a little too much $ i think.

Colombo is the next guy I go after, and talk of rading Vilma needs to stop. It's not going to happen. Harper would be a nice pickup as well, allowing us to focus on NT/LB/OG in the draft.

what I meant was if we trade Vilma to try and get Calvin Johnson - we'd need an ILB...

Hobson should be moved to ILB if we cut Barton. Hobson will be dominant in the middle I've been saying it since day 1. He's also solid at OLB, he works well in this system.

I think if we are to get rid of a linebacker it will be Barton way before Vilma.

I think the RT spot will be the last position addressed in FA, and it will be either Columbo or Clement.... I hope Columbo. After that, I think they have decided to band aid the D line and pass rush for this year, and will look for a CB with the first round pick instead. If they don't improve the pass rush, they almost have to improve at the CB spot.

I see Mangini going after Gay.
Give him the poison pill contract and give the Pats the Bears' 2nd.
    -Resign Clement
-Traylor would be a great 1 or 2 year PU.

    -Draft BAP

The rumors are floating around that the Jets are trying to pry the #2 pick from Detroit and use it on Calvin Johnson. (originally is was Johnson or Peterson but with the TJ Signing Peterson is out).

Jets #1 and a #2 and Vilma for Peterson is lollipops flowers and candi kane trees? Not likely - it's a pro bowl LB (out of position) a #1 and a #2 for the #3 overall pick. Not unreasonalbe, is it?

My preferences - Gandy for RT, Kelly for TE, Lewis and Barber for ILB (pending Vilma trade and Barton cut), and Harper for CB. We should have the cap room to sign all of them.

Then the trade for the #2 pick and draft Johnson...to give us Jones at RB and Johnson at WR - two true weapons. Gandy improves the Right Side...and the defense improves with strong ILB's and Harper.
