I would love to see them go after Porter next.

Colombo has a major knee problem, is not much of a power blocker, and isn't much better then what we have already in Clement. He's nothing more then an insurance option and solid depth... don't get too excited guys.

This thread will have to be closed as I believe there's an NFL rule against threads dealing with Offensive Lineman going more than one page.

We would've had 30 if we landed a guy like Leonard Davis...

No, because we would have overpaid greatly for him. He's a beastly run blocker, and below average pass blocker, which isn't the end of the world for a RT. I see him as a slightly fatter and lazier Kareem McKenzie.

This would be a very nicely done signing if it is real. Anyone have anything else on this at all?

This might be the best day of my life. Now we need a certain ex-Steeler to be our new #55.

Colombo is 6'8" and 320 pounds. That is too tall, and he is about as strongly built as D'Brickashaw Ferguson. There is no way a guy of this size will be able to plug right in at RT and push around big LE's. He finally completed his first season of 5 last year (had totals of 10, 0, 8, and 5 games in 4 seasons prior to it), and he was considered the weak spot of the Dallas line all year long. He's a great depth signing, but not something to knight and say that OL is not a need anymore.

Colombo is a legit 320, unlike Ferguson, who's listed at 312, but wasn't over 300 at any point this season. Also, 6'8 is a perfectly fine height for a right tackle.

As far as being the weak spot of the Dallas line... I'm really not sure what makes you think that. Dallas really wanted to re-sign him, and even after signing Davis they wanted to bring him back to play RT and have Davis play RG. He's a much better player than Clement, without question.

Signing Colombo fills a huge hole on the right side of the line. We still need to improve at RG, but replacing Clement with Colombo is a big step in the right direction.

We still need an offensive weapon to loosen up the defense... I wouldn't necessarily go defense.

But at 6'8" he's going to have trouble getting leverage... and granted if he was 340 or 350 he's still be strong enough to push guys around, but he's not that strong. The knee is "better" but it still scares the shit out of me... I mean missing 41 games in 4 seasons? I don't know... he's not a guarantee to me and he may be better then Clement, but I really don't think he'll make any more then an average starter.
